Default Spring Free Length & Int. Diameter....any effect on handling?

Just what it says.

Assuming no coil binding or ride-height issues, would there be any differences in handling between say, a 5 inch, 2.25 diameter, 500lb spring, and a 6 inch, 2.5 diameter, 500 lb spring.

I don't think there would be, but i tend to oversimplify, and wanted to bounce it off the folks here.

coil binding IS the issue. it otherwise functions as a simple spring and hopefully at the rated spring rate.

Less weight.
Less tendency to bind.

Thats all I can think of.

PS - You coming to the double at Roeblingbling?

All else being equal there should be no difference but the longer spring is less likely to coil binda dn less likely to fall out of it's spring seats when unladed. Also 2.5s tend to be cheaper and more plentiful plus lighter.

You can go with the 2.25s if you want but I can;' think of a good reason on that car unless you already have them. Usually the 2.25s are for smaller cars that have very restrictive room in their uprights and need the smaller OD for packaging purposes. Most comon on small formula cars. On cars like Hondas whewre there is plenty of room, the 2.5 just has more options.
