Plate the covers cam journals??

Plate the covers cam journals??
I'm about to buy a z6 head with no cam. And the guy says there's no "Plate the covers the cam journals". I have a 95 VX and I was wondering if i can just swap out the plate he's talkin about on my VX. Thanks.
