what kind of hp gains can be expected from a d16y7 intake manifold to a d16y8 intake manifold?
I currently have a d16y7, and I am thinking about swapping the intake manifold to a d16y8. As the title reads: What kind of hp gains can be expected from this swap? Would it be worth the time, effort, and money, in your honest opinion? Thanks for any help
I already got mine, but didnt put it in yet... I would venture to guess at 10-20 horse, even more with a cold air..... I'm not sure but the sure size and shorter runners that that y8 has would just increase air flow greatly in the y7... def worth it in my opinion... since im doing it

come on guys...
i have the manifold on my d16y7. its not that big of an hp gain. granted i havent dyno'd my car with the new manifold but its not rocket science. now if you get the whole y8 head you might see 17-20hp.
imo the y8 manifold swap is more of a longterm strategy. if i were you id only swap it if you're planning on putting on a turbo. it will make the install alot easier.

A stock y7 is rated at 106hp. A stock y8 is rated at 127hp. So, only a 21hp diff. The main diff between the 2 engines is the intake manifold and the vtec head on the y8. So I don't see how you could get 17.6hp gain by just swapping the intake manifold. Do you have a dyno chart to support this claim?
I would expect probably 5-8whp gains. It won't be night and day type of difference, but it will be quite noticeable. If you can get a good deal on the intake manifold, then it is definately worth the upgrade.

I dont know about that guy above me, but I was kidding. I really dont know, but it cant be that much without the whole head package.

And where are you getting this number from?

Only reason Im doing it is so I can fit a bigger intake in my civic! (ITR)
EDIT: Not to jack this thread, but I figured the people willing to answer this could help me out. Ive got the complete Y8 mani (TB, injectors, fuel rail, brace and everything esle with it.) On the mani swap site that Im using it says you need a new throttle cable bracket. Do you need the one off of the y8 TB or what??? Any other suggestions to help the install??

what about putting a z6 im and fuel system on a d16y6? how much hp would that give...if anyone has the slightest idea.
the y8 mani and a gsr T body add about 10 hp. I hear the biggest increase is throttle response. The Y7 head and Y8 head are different, If you put the y8 head on a y7 motor it incresed compression drasticly. good luck.
BTW about 75 to 1oo on the manifold and 1 to 150 for the T body.
