I just saw a special on CNBC in which Brian Williams (anchor) interviewed C. Van Tune (Motor Trend editor) about the new trends in street racing, as evidenced by the multitude of deaths, and of course Fast and Furious. Of course they said that the movie is influencing kids, and C Van Tune said that street racing now is 'scary' compared to the good old days of domestics. He said that races go 4-wide, and that kids run out between the cars to slap the fenders "like some running-of-the-bulls kind of thing." Brian Williams told us all how scared we should be of "kids putting 400hp V8s in Honda Accords" and C. Van Tune said that "these are Japanese cars that are only meant to have around 90hp, and sometimes have 3 or 4 times that amount." It was a huge display of ignorance, and ended with C. Van Tune saying "parents, watch your kids and make sure they stay away from this". Guys be careful because after some **** like this is on TV, there are going to be cops and concerned citizens just waiting for you to rev your engine over 3k.

 

what a retard..obviousy has not heard of..lemmesee here, first and foremost TYPE-Rs!! or NSX, or supra TTs or skylines ...well ok we cant have those but still...90 hp? who's he foolin?

ALL in all it was a good movie to me it entertained and what was a movie was supposed to do. But it seems in this world of blame everthing but the problem the movie will get a bad rap for starting street races that have been going on for 50 or so years back when it was all domestics racing each other. But i do think the import scene and import drivers will get a bad rap from this. You rev your engine at a light or go above 3K rpm.s and the cops will pull u over for street racing.

 

Maybe I should get that 10mm TB restrictor plate after all Without it, my car is just plain dangerous.

 

You should've heard the group of 15 year olds watching the movie in front of me..."This movie was so stupid, all it had in it were cars".

So I just said "What did you guys expect to see?!??!?!?" and left laughing and telling my buddies what the kids in front of me said.

 

I find that news report funny. What, they don't think there are still 600hp domestics running around out there or something?
