Default Stock exhaust on B16

Just curious, currently I'm running stock exhaust to my DC headers along with my B16 motor. How bad is this robbing me of power?

Well unless you put the car on a dyno you won't really no how much its robbing you, but it ain't helping at all. I mean, you got a header which is suppose to increase flow, which it really can't because it runs into the stock exhaust.

I agree..... you have to do a basic but full upgrade to the exhaust system. Everything works together, and putting in a performance header without upgrading the rest, will not give you the power increase you want. A lot of people think bigger is better, but going to exhaust pipes that are too large, will not allow them to heat up properly, and thus slow down the flow of gases. Hot pipes keep the gases moving at the fastest speed, and thus reducing as much back-pressure as possible. I hope this helps.

With N/A cars you want backpressure that is how yo get power. Turbo cars dont need back preasure that is why they want bigger piping. On and N/A car I would get 2.25" 2.5 might be consindered to big.

But to answer the question at hand. Yes your stock exhuast is restricting flow and is to small to make any kind of power. There is such thing as too small and too big.

the stock exhuast is restrictive....i don't have dyno numbers but on the 1/4, i went from 15.3's down to 15.1's with a more free flowing muffler. my car already had 2.25" piping but the muffler was crap. i installed a 5zigen fireball and my times went down...and yes, i am a consistent launcher even though i'm not a good launcher. also, i ran the 1/4 one week, installed the muffler, and ran the week after it at the same place so the temp wasn't a factor either...

Yeah, I agree with all y'all. I feel like this car can do more than it is now, but the stock exhaust is a killer. What exhaust system should I go for? From what I hear custom is the way to go as far as piping, I have no idea on what kind of muffler. I love tanabe, but I doubt there's anything made for my car, what about DC sports? Suggestions?
