FS: Very nice & very sorted ZC CRX for street & track
For the last 8 years people have been leaving notes and asking if this car was for sale...now it is. The time has come and the family is big enough that I need a back seat now.
'89 CRX Si with ZC swap, list of mods is too long to list fully so here are the high points: light flywheel with recent clutch, Genie stainless steel ported header, Phantom Grip LSD, Iceman Cold Air Intake with K&N, Integra front brake upgrade with two week old EBC Greenstuff pads and rotors, Integra computer, 15x6.5 Kosei Senecas (?) with 2/3 tread Yoko AVS, Wings West low wing, Bosal/Brospeed prototype cat-back exhaust, Momo Competition steering wheel, Momo leather shift ****, OMP adjustable pedal covers, Neuspeed rear upper tie bar, Neuspeed rear sway bar, Vibrant short shifter, combination of fresh Honda rubber and Prothane urethane bushings, etc, etc.
The kicker is that this is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde street and track car with parts for both. Dr. Jekyll is a very well mannered street car with everything working, very good interior with no holes, rips or tears, air conditioning, Alpine stereo, uncommon CRX floormats, smoked sunroof deflector, lowered 1.75 inches on KONI Sport shocks and Vogtland springs. Very clean, no rice, a real head turner. Mr. Hyde is a well sorted open track car used mostly for instruction and giving rides (about 12 track days). Comes with a a complete plug-in KONI coil-over system with single adjustable race valved KONIs and 400/600 springs (other rates available) and helper springs. Comes with a turn down exhaust tip to replace the rear muffler, one or two harness systems (negotiable) and 14x6 Revolution wheels (negotiable). Takes about 2 hours to make the conversion from street to track or back. If the buyer is interested (and qualified), I will provide a free entry and personal instruction at my Putnam Park lapping day next Spring.
This car is extremely well cared for, always garaged, 2nd owner, never abused, no kid drivers or smokers. Originally a rust free Florida/Georgia that we bought and built for my wife in late 1995. Car is painted Nugget Yellow (VW Corrado) including mirrors and lower moldings. If you remember that Grassroots Motorsports did a yellow CRX project car, this is the car that inspired that one. The paint is now 8 years old and has the usual bug and rock chips of a daily driver but still looks really good. Recently did a small fiberglass (not bondo) rust repair on the tip of both rear quarter panels but everything is solid.
It now has 210,000 miles but would pass for 120,000 if we wanted to lie and swap odos. My wife commuted 190 miles each day on the interstate for over 18 months and racked up 70,000+ mile doing that. The car has never wanted for maintenance and always had the best parts promptly. It is dead reliable, fly in and drive it home to California with no reservations. It is located in Greater Cincinnati.
Asking $5,000. As mentioned, there are two complete shock/spring packages and many negotiable parts. OE 14 alloys and good tires also available. You won't find a better all around CRX at this fair price. I can even provide a reference of third party Honda guy who drove it on track just two weeks ago who will tell you what a nice car and package it is.

Lee, I didn't see any pictures referenced, so I thought I would share a couple of links from CRX FATT III in 1999, when your wife drove that car (prior to the ZC engine, IIRC)

Very nice car, folks.
Jedd F's silver 1st gen. CRX, with the black racing stripe, should be recognizable to ECHC fans, especially the back of it (to many).

Thanks for the pics Keith. I need to get some fresh pics up but need an open day for the official "for sale" wash and prep. That's the car and your right we were still SOHC powered at that time. Sorry to see it go but the time has come to move on. Probably our last street CRX but we've been playing that game for a decade now and it is time to move on.
With the racecar and the future racecar shell we'll still keep a CRX in the family garage although the seating capacity and door count will go up on the daily drivers.
BTW, what happened to http://www.crx.org? Gone for good?

Working on it. I've been carrying the toe guage back and forth to work to get the pics taken but life and work seem to be getting in the way. As soon as I can get 15 minutes of my own time, I will take them but I haven't even been able to take a non-working lunch in the last several days.

I don't know what has become of the mailing list at http://www.crx.org . I get E-mail from the CRXmk1@egroups.com list, and every now and then an E-mail will CC "the CRX List", but I haven't been able to find it.
I think I was member number 14 of the CRX Owners Group, which owns http://www.crx.org .
BTW, why don't you and Mike Whitney work out a trade, CRX for BMW? I have ridden in his BMW at CMP, and it is a good track/instructor car.

The deal is arreanged on the M3 so this one is for sale for sure now. I've offered it this way to H-Ters but have been told that the price is a bit low so I plan to bump it and/or offer the threaded suspension kit seperately in a few weeks.
This offer is open to H-Ters until it or parts sell but the price goes up outside here.
