I can't speak for the FBP but the PY is a solid state. No clear coat. I had to get my JDM front painted. To match they went ahead and used a clearcoat on the front. That way if they do need to blend it in they can use clearcoat on the rest of the car for blending. They matched it extremely well though and didn't have to do any blending however. Once I get the car back I will post some pics up.

i have to say, the paint and the incredibly thin sheetmetal are two things i don't like about hondas. they dent FAR too easily (thanks JI for two dents in my last two hondas!), and the paint is paper thin.

ahhh . . . i remember the days of my audi quattro coupe . . .

thanks for a reply..

yes the question was in regards to PY paint.. i just wonder if i should clear it though.. i do want a perfect color match since the car is brand new and all.. but then again, clear something that is not meant to have clear?

From what i was told all we need to clear is the fender and the part of the door where they do the blend and thats it.. any opinions? should i have this done? i really want a nice looking match..

You are correct. They would only have to clear the areas they are blending. The Door, Fenders. Whatever is adjacent to the part being newly painted.

if i decide to clear to match is perfectly.. should i have them clear the whole front end.. rather then just fenders? and part of doors.. my main concern is that i dont want to notice a color difference anywhere after they are done.
at least not to a bare eye

lemme know what you people think.. or anyone else that had their front end painted... what the body shop did..

TIA

okay i am not getting this. Please explain what the clearcoat has to do with blending? Does the whole car come not clearcoated? My driver door had to be repainted and i know they blended it with the rear quarter panel. so does that mean that section of the car has a clearcoat now? Are the 00 PY clearcoated? Thanks. -Jon
