Default Redline MTL Vs Honda MTL Vs GM syncroshift...

First of all I've done a search.

The post that i've read indicates that most don't go with redline for various reasons and typically opt for Factory stuff.

However, the typical application seems to be dragracing, i'm looking for something that will hold up on the roadcourse. remember near redline for 30min to 45min at a time.

Has anyone experience accelerated syncro's wear with MTL or otherwise.

something more than just an opinon would be great!

Thanks

I've heard good things about GM Snchromesh. It stopped the "worn synchro grind" on the 2-3 shift in 2 of my friends cars (del Sol VTEC & GS-R)

redline mtl did wonders for my transmission. Shifting was much smoother and more responsive, and it held up quite solidly after prolonged high revs. before, with regular mtl, the car was very difficult to shift after 30-1hr of hard driving. redline was the opposite, no problems whatsoever

before i ran a road race this year i had minor problems with shifting and it was made worse while i raced that day. about a week later i changed back out to regular honda mtl and now it shifts perfect again. i also do wonder if redline will make that difference.

You know that a lot of people do not use the right type of Redline - should be the Ultralight Shockproof gear oil with the LSD additive...that stuff is dam- near perfect to run.....You got to ask for this specifically!!!!

This is an interesting development... After contacting Redline a while ago, they recommended MTL as the proper one to use in the Integra. But after reading this board, it seems like the OEM MTL is the stuff to use. (I was actaully thinking about Mobil1 gear/tranny oil but it seemed like it was nothing but trouble too.)

If anybody cares, the SuperLight Weight shockproof oil is rated as a 70W90 oil, which is close to what the Honda MTL stuff is (75W80...API GL4.) Could be a good substitute.

How much of the LSD friction modifier should one add for the Integra RType application? 8% of total lubricant capacity? (which breaks down to...uh...?)
