Sohcs can be made fast, but instead of dishing out $$ for a turbo/kit etc, get a motor swap and build from there.

Boosted D series will be faster then your basic swap, plus will have the added fun of more torque. True a B series is a better base to build from though.

Plus stock D series parts can be had for CHEAP. Crack a sleeve whoopiee do. Get another block for cheap. Try doing that with a b18c.....

wait, so it can be fast, but dont dish out $$ for a turbo kit, dish out money for a swap plus a turbo kit after that and expect it to be cheaper than what u already have? plus u dont have to go thru the hassle of swapping out cuz u know ur motor in ur car already works fine and u can get a new one for 4-600.

i'm not trying to argue with you here cuz everyone has their own preferences and i respect that, and i'm sick of the whole d vs b ****, but this guy never even asked for opinions on other options or swaps. the title asks the sohc turbo guys to speak on their experiences and times. its ridiculous that everytime someone asks about boosted sohcs there has to be someone telling them to swap instead. sohc turbo guys could easily be going around talkin **** about hybrid NA's and telling EX/Si guys to just boost their sohcs instead but we at least have the decency to respect what other people choose to run. ok, done ranting, just sick of the "just swap" crap.

boostsohfast ran 13.7 with a greddy kit on 6 or 7 psi and drag radials in a full interior hatch i believe. i've seen his car run 14.5-7 on street tires in full trim in person. there are many other turbo sohcs here puttin down some good times as well. good luck to ur friend with what he chooses
