shave the rear wiper? opinions?
I am doing the body work on my car, i want the spoon sports yellow crx look, i have a wings west rs body kit. Im thinking about shaving off the rear wiper, what do you guys think? should i? Any opinions? i live in maryland so we get snow but i cant honestly say i use this much, either way gime opinions.
I used to live in a state that rain a lot, and never felt a need for rear wipers. But when I did have a G1 Integra, it was useful. But again, not a "need." The best way to but it is, if the rear wiper work, I'll use it. But it it's broken, I would not fix it.
If I were you I'd try just removing it and plugging it off first, then squint real hard and imagine before deciding. Or better yet, just look at a CRX DX or HF and you'll see that 'shaved rear wiper blade' look
.
Seriously, though, I can't even figure out how to remove the rear wiper motor and all that. Oooh, have you ever considered that removing that rear wiper will leave you with a useless switch and wiring on the steering column? That would be a cool place to install a NOS fogger kit

I took my rear wiper out of my CRX. Here in Hilo, the average yearly rainfall is about 150 inches or so. I never used the rear wiper. I just used the CX rear wiper plug. Very easy to do and looks pretty clean.

Hey guys thanks for all your posts. 1. where can i get the plug and how much is it? Does it sit flush or does it bump up alittle bit? I like the idea of the cap but i would like it just flush.
Heres a pic of crx without the wiper, take off katmans site(sorry).
I love the way it looks! raeneshadow, actually i had thought about that too, that would be a really clean install for a nitrous switch or pretty much anything! My only problem making me decide is that since it snows here i remember using it sometimes in the snow but honestly once i have my rear defroster on that rear windshield gets pretty hot, hot enough to melt any snow that lands on it. Its just kinda a hard decision for me. It will definitely look sleeker and having the motor out and all that stuff will be sorta like weight reduction i guess (hey every bit counts) . Check out this crx and tell me if you like it?

trborex: Mmm yeah, I almost never look out the rear windows either
. I should just have those removed & filled in w/ metal inserts... weight savings you know. Heh.
HondaCRX: I personally think it looks much, much cleaner without the rear wiper. I also want to remove my antenna assembly from the exterior... might want to consider that too if you're going for the 'shaved' look. If you want to test "the look" it's just two screws holding it in - you can remove those and slide the antenna back down the a-pillar. It shouldn't even be that hard to fill in.

Actually shaving off my antenna is this saturdays project. I already went out to buy a window mount antenna, you can get one at radioshack for like 6 bucks, they have different ones but i would suggest getting the one thats just clear tape with a tiny wire in the middle, i had bought one a while back which was this big thick black thing that you stuck on the top of your windshield that needed to be grounded to a bolt(where the hell am i gonna find a bolt on the top of the windshield? there isnt even any clearance to find a bolt near the roof. to shave off the antenna you gotta actually place a piece of metal or a screen to hold up whatever your filling it with, im using bondoglass (fiberglass mixed with bondo) if you dont do this itll leak down the pillar. I wanna do my rear squirter too if i shave the rear wiper.
Schweet!
Hey, I wonder if you could just run the old antenna underneath the plastic moulding above the door? So as to keep the reception without having to tape anything on your windows? The fact that car's a metallic cage might destroy some of that usefulness, though... I think I'm going to try this in about an hour (after I'm done surfing here). I'll let you know

You should shave it. The car looks real different without it, but good. That photo you stole from katman has a TegR engine and wsa recentally for sale.
raeneshadow, please do let me know if it works. I doubt it will, since everytime i shrink up my antenna my reception sucks i dont think the broadcast waves can get through the metal of the car but who knows might work? let us know. Ill definitely take pics of my project and ill post em up for you guys to see. weather permiting ofcourse.
yeah i am glad i don't have to shave mine since mine didn't come with one! i like it without one, my dad has an 91 SI and i just don't like it on there. but hey to each his own
