Cost of Driving (daily or Interstate) in our ITR...
Anybody know the cost for driving 1 mile in our ITR (without gas)?
Maybe Josh can answer this.. he breaks down lots of cost on his homepage...
the reason why I asked is because instead of driving my R, I rented a car last weekend to go 600 miles... cost me 12 cents a mile on that OldsMobile Alero...
If my R got the Bra, I might drive it instead of renting a car(pain of going to airport before and after the trip.

i imagine the itr is fairly inexpensive to daily drive. figure the itr has a very slow depreciation rate compared to most cars - a '98 itr can still be sold for $20k.
figure you drive 15k miles per year
depreciation = $5000 over 4yrs = $1250/yr = $0.083/mile
maintanence* = $1175 = $0.078/mile
gas = $1.95/gal & 28mpg = $1045/yr = $0.070/mile
i probably missed something, but you're looking at $0.231/mile. keep renting, especially if you leave the car at the airport.
*maint.: mobil 1 every 3k (5x/yr) $4.50/qt + 5 filters= $125, valve adjustment + 15k service = $350, re010 tires 4x $160 + mount/balance = $700, wiper fluid = $10/yr,

Need to add insurance.
Also financing (the cost of the money tied up in the car) - whether you own or have a loan or a lease, somehow, somebody's got $20K+ tied up in the car that could be earning interest, and YOU'RE paying for it.

ah yes, how could i forget.
insurance = $170/month = $2040/yr = $0.136/mile
interest paid* = $500/yr = $0.033/mile
now we're at = $0.40/mile
*figure average buyer put down $5k on $25k car, therefore, a loan of $20k over 4yrs @ 8% = a very crude estimate of $500/yr in interest
