What mode do you use, A, l, L...
You know what I mean...and do you use a different mode for
city and highway...
Lastly, have you ever been caught with it??

Caught with it? They're legal, no problem there. Gotten a speeding ticket while using it? Yup. They can't help you against instant-on radar if the cop really wants to work at it.

 

if a cop pulls you over, I would recommend hiding the V1. Maybe it's just me, but if I was a cop I would assume someone speeds regularly if they have a radar detector

 

around town I have it set to L logic mode
Ive had the v1 almost 2 years and I havent been pulled over since i've had it *knock on wood*

But I did get a chance to talk to a motorcycle cop that was out shooting laser one day, we b/s'd and he mentioned that he had a v1 also, he gave it

 

I'm in half logic all the time.

Full alert when i'm in the middle of nowhere.

Stupid grocery store doors make that thing go crazy

 

I leave it on L all the time.

The only tiem I got pulled over (driving like an ***) I left it in the window and the cop didn't say a thing.

On another note, I know some cops around Pittsburgh, and they also know it's the best; one was even impressed by it.

 

i have a escort 7500 and it blows. i got 2 tickets in one day when using that damn thing. and the second time the bloody thing did not even go off. and the cop was using K.

how does the v1 compare the the newer excort 8500?

I keep mine on L all the time...as for being caught by instant on or laser, you have to use your head when you are all alone on the road, you need people ahead of you to draw out the instant on so you can get a reading. When you are all alone, unless you see him with your eyes 1st, you will be slowing down as he is putting his lightbar on!

 

8500 is a great choice. And with all the settings and things you can program if you dont have the pocket for the Valentine its an "off tha chain" choice

I've used both simulataneously in my car, and although the 8500 is good, the V1 blows it away.

The V1 went off sooner and kept going off after we passed the source.. the 8500 just stopped.

If you are going to spend 300 on the 8500, just throw in another 100 and get the V1. You won't be dissapointed. I wouldn't waste my money on any radar detector if you don't get the V1.

I got to say, its pretty nice...
I have noticed that the false alarms are not really bad when you think
about it...
In the All mode I know how many falses should be in a particular area.....
Funny the areas that have the most falses are shopping centers and such.
I really do not need to be speding there at all.
I rolled into the gas station the other day and there was a local police
officer and he had someone pulled over. the v-1 was not indicating that.
He had the radar off. He pulled out in front of me and then the v-1 lit up.
It was cool because while he was driving away from me it was showing the
strength meter lower and lower with the signal in front of me.
heres the coolest part...After he crested the hill and was out of sight
I still had him on radar for at least 1.0 mile. I could still barely see him.
I like it....NO Ilove it.

 

Best Buy sells 8500's. Employee's get them very cheap.

 

V1 likes to pick up those roadside speed indicators also, its pretty cool once you pass them head on.
(It will continue to sniff out the signal even tho its not directed towards you)
