WD,

I will be there. I believe Josh from WI is comming to. He was going to drive down to my place in Chicago and then we were going to drive out my car from there. What route are you planning? Maybe we can all meet up and drive there together.

If you post this to the Type-R mailing list you should get more responses. Just go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TypeR

and subscribe. I know a lot more guys on that list are planning on going.

sackdz: That would be cool if you could stop by. If you do, come up and introduce yourself.

onyx00: Actually, I don't have a route in mind yet, I haven't made it that far yet in my plans Are you guys planning on staying in South Haven Sunday night? If you give me directions, I would be glad to meet up with you guys. I don't know the Chicago area at all.

BTW, I just e-mailed the Type-R mailing list.

When do you plan on getting to South Haven? Trying to decide if we should all try and meet up for dinner or something. Also, I have some in-car video from when I was up at Gingerman last week for a Viper Days event if anyone was interested...

WD=Wes??

This is Anil..I'll be there with another friend with an ITR (black 2000) and a black S4. We are going to stay at the Guesthouse Inn but am not sure what time we will arrive (check in is at 4pm supposedly). The rate at GH Inn was a little higher than I expected, at $85.50 with the CGI Discount (it is $65 before July), but still cheap for 3 people.

We can try and set up a time to have dinner Sunday night, but it will be difficult to coordinate. Any ideas/suggestions??

Anil,

What's up? Yep, this is Wes. I will also be staying at the Guesthouse Inn. That's kinda weird, they told me $65.00.

I don't know what good restaurants are in the area. If I remember correctly, there is a restaurant right in front of the hotel. I'll post a picture of my car. It kinda stands out from the typical ITR <sigh>

BTW, I will have my cell phone with me - 402-578-3564

I'm planning on driving in Monday morning. After passing downtown Chicago, via Dan Ryan (I-90 east) to Chicago Skyway (I-90) to Indiana Toll Road (I-90) to I-94 east to I-196 north to Exit 20.

Restaurant recommendation: in South Haven, Three Pelicans. Everything from burgers to prime rib to crab legs to Jamaican food. Good place. Get directions; it's only a couple of turns but it's not exactly straightforward.

I think I know how to get to that place - its right next to the harbor where all of the boats are, right?

Here are a couple of pics of my car:

Here is a pic of me in Yellow Dragon's ITR:

Honestly, what do you guys think of the stickers? My car was displayed at the theater for the opening night of 'The Fast and The Furious', and the shop that sponsors me wanted the stickers on there. It looks kinda cool going down the street, but I am still undecided

Yes.

Directions are something like this:

From the hotel or track, west on Phoenix Road. After you cross over the highway, go through the traffic light at the next intersection (preferably when it's green) and go maybe half a mile to the next light and turn left. The street will bend to the left and then you go right, over the bridge. Take that street till it ends and turn left. Take that street and Three Pelicans is on the left right before it ends. There is a very small lot on the far side of the restaurant, and plenty of parking on the street.

Shoot, I was going to wait till early Monday, maybe I'll come up the night before, I don't know...

How much is the event costing you guys if you don't mind ?. We had a ClubSi meet there on June 4th, we charged $80 each which included a decent lunch and trophies and prizes. We are looking to do a second meet next year and make it a more simple affair, probably keep costs down to $60 or so. It was a great track to run, lots of fun. BTW what does CGI stand for ?

CGI Motorsports (named after its sibling company, the Coalition Group Incorporated) charges $150 for the day, including lunch and (for those who need it) classroom instruction and highly-qualified instructors in the passenger seat. Do you offer instruction? The traffic on the track is kept down by limiting run groups to 10 cars each, and the track time is four hours per day (because there are only two run groups). How much track time do you give folks for their $60 or $80?

I think with track events, often (not always, but often) you get what you pay for... (No flames intended, just an observation.)

no we don't have any instruction offered, guys from the club just meet up and run their cars, we try to run it as a non-profit club event. Plus we have about double the amount of cars that you would have at the event based on your numbers. ClubSi guys tend to be a little price conscious, so I doubt we could sell them on that type of package. good luck sounds like fun.

I have also found that you get what you pay for. With only 20 or so cars there, you basically get the track to yourself if the event is run well. I have been to $50 and $60 track days with 100 cars and spent all day waiting behind slow people.

So who all is going to be around for dinner Sunday night?

If folks are getting in on the late side, it might be easier to plan to have dinner together at the end of the event on Monday, before heading back...

I should be there in the afternoon on Sunday. I was planning on heading back to Nebraska right after the event, but I may consider sticking around.

I'm hoping to get in to South Haven around 6 pm, but with how far I'm driving, I could easily get there much later.

I'd be in favor of grabbing dinner on Monday night, to give us a break from driving before we head back...

I'll probably be around Sunday night...just dont know what time we are going to get in for sure. I would assume that I will be there by around 6pm or so.

I would prefer NOT to do dinner Monday night, but am open to suggestions. I dont know about the rest of you but I have work on Tuesday and prefer to just drive home right after the day is done.
