is an 87 crx worth the trouble???
i have an opportunity to get an 87 crx...bone stock...dont lie the body...can it be altered to be liek newer model or no...if so, how difficult is it....anyone have one and like it better then the 88-91's???lemme know
i love the old crx's.....super light...and even if its a carb, its gonna be a blast. you can usually pick them up super cheap, and half the body is fiberglass or plastic, so they dont rust as fast as 88-91's......at least in the midwest it seems that way. super duper light
I've heard curb weight for the 87 Si (which I have, it's the heaviest of the first gens) as either 1908 or 1970lbs. Earlier models, especially HF's, are even lighter. Tons of parts swap over from 86-9 Integras: brakes (larger front, rear discs), sway bars, and if you have an Si (the only fuel injected model), the D16A1 bolts right in. If you end up with a carb'd car, an Si head swap will yeild solid gains. My car was $150 with a busted axle, and I'll be picking up another 87 Si with a ZC swap for $400.
on 1st gen CRX's. They're dirt cheap to buy, cheap to mod, and fun as hell. What more could you ask for in a project?
