My engine-not-starting problem was finally diagnosed and fixed!!!
I had an intermittent engine starting problem where the starter would click once but would not start. The problem got worse after few months even after changing the battery cables & checking the battery and possible alternator breaking down.
Few things they found out:
Starter was going out (changed twice because it was a defective one)
Alternator was going out also (test showed it was below the value)
and after that didn't solve the problem...I took it to the shop for the forth time in one month & did some electronic diagnostic. They found out my stock alarm was causing some voltage drop between the battery that was little too high and was not giving enough power for the engine to start. (My alarm was acting goofy about a year ago so I never used it) The tech disconnected my alarm system & also replaced some of the ground cables in the engine bay and was able to get a lower resistance reading.
So after spending about $1,200 (timing belts, spark plug wires, alternator, two starter motor (one was free warranty replacement) and the damn labor charge, my problem has been fixed. Frustrating month this was!
I need to get me the Helms manual or start working on this myself.
