What gear typically grinds the most on you
last night i was racing a civic hatch witha b16 and shifted from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd just grinded and i swere i thought my tranny exploded, but it was just a nasty grind, it is the second time its happened to me, and i swere my foot was all the way on that clutch.
tranny is fine , shifted smooth thru all the gears after i grinded hard. and i didnt hit redline.

Sorry to tell you dude but it sounds like you might have early signs of tranny damage!! it usually starts off with high RPM shifting then it slowly work it way down to all the RPM range!! My advice for you is to start thinking about a rebuild before you start damaging the gear in the tranny!!
yea but its happend to a few people i know, and last night when i was in my cousins mustang and we were racing a brand new 350z and he grinded 3rd pretty bad as well. And when you grind gears your not actually grinding what you think your grinding. http://www.howstuffworks.com check out manual trannys and see for your self.

mines the weirdest, 5th gear grinds for me at high RPM. Oh well, I'm probably gonna get a Type R tranny since it will be cheaper than buying an LSD with installation. Plus I can sell my GS-R tranny to anyone who wants to rebuild it.

None of my gears grind BUT!
In my integra, like every other honda I have ever driven will CRUNCH (not a grind, its a CRUNCH, there is a big differenc) If you shift quickly.
My prelude, eg (3), CRX (3) 97 civic coupe (hx) and my old GSR ALL DID THIS. If you swipe it into gear no matter how smooth you do it there is always CRUNCH. This is not only me, I hear it in almost every honda at the illegal and legal races. I guess the honda trans just is kinda crunchy.
