My first poll here: What would you do to a type R with $1200?
Alright. I am very new to all of this car stuff. I have never upgraded or tweaked anything at all and I'm ready to get a Type R. I realize that I should wait for awhile before I make any modifications to it, but I would like to get a list ready if I could.
If you had $1200, what would you do to modify a Type R?
I am looking for the best combination of performance/looks with a little more emphasis on looks. Got to get the ladies looking
I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

if you want ppls attention just put a shitty body kit on it and stickers.
of course, a lot of the attention will be negative. but still.
seriously though, I doubt you'll find too many people here who will suggest too many appearance items. clear corners I guess. leave the taillights alone.

get a high quality header first (w/ a hi flow cat), not only a performance gain, but a weight loss with the removal of stock header. 1200 won't get much else as far as looks, wheels are too much...but why worry about looks anyway, it's great looking stock...

reid, who knows his message will probably be misconstrued but hopes for the best
My advice: Don't get an R. If you want looks, get a GS-R and get some ITR parts for it (front lip, rear spoiler). Plus you'll have a sunroof and leather, which are better for girls if that's what you're concerned about. The Type R is for the serious enthusiast, not someone who wants to look hot while cruising around on Friday night. Plus, this way you'll spend less $$ on the car and have more $$ available for the mods. A GS-R or Prelude will more than suit your needs, the Type R is the wrong car for you.

What kind of body kits would you recommend? Like I said, I would like to get a balance of both performance and looks. I have read alot about AEM intakes and Borla Exhaust. They both seem like they would do some good as far as horsepower goes.
Like I said, I would like a balance of performance/looks. Any suggestions on body kits are appreciated!

P.S. I feel like a fool for mispelling my title

Integra GS-R
18" wheels with proper lowering
AEM intake
exhaust (Apexi or GReddy or something like that)
ITR front lip
ITR rear spoiler

A BORLA exhaust on a ITR?!?! ****. don't do that. Get anything over that. You don't even need to replace the exhaust from the catback anyways, unless you want the car to sound loud. And if that's the case, install a short ram intake, it'll be loud.
As for body kits, I dunno, I don't do body kits.. sorry.

yeah Dave youre right. Although I dont think he would go for a GS which would get spanked in most street races. He seems to want the extra juice but definitely doesn't need the track potential of the R.
Gotta agree with Ross 100%
Unless you'll be taking the Type-R to the track or for any sort of performance driving, it's not the right car for you. For a combination of looks + a bit performance, GS, GS-R, or perhaps a Prelude Type SH would be a much better choice. Those cars are bit smoother and offer lots of comfort/luxury items that an enthusiast car like a Type-R does not. But those of us who did get the R, we don't care about leather, sun-roof, and quiter ride, etc. And most of us actually look to strip weight out of the car or leave it alone, instead of adding more weight, which would certainly happen if you try to enhance the appearance with bigger wheels and body kits. Please don't take this a flame, this is only my honest opinion. Good luck!

Spend your $ on driving school. The guy getting champagne dumped on his head gets the looks and the girls.
Note: No R's would be harmed in the making of this fantasy.

Agree with ITR#231. Get a nice helmet, a pair of gloves and go for a good driving school. That will help building your skills and learn more about your "2nd wife's" "character"
A JDM header/test pipe, CC-X front pads and Motul fluid, AEM CAI, UR crank pulley and some Toda cam gears. That's what I'd do. WHen you have some extra cash hit a dyno. You'll be at 177 whp. At least that 's where I was at with huge improvements in torque. The handling is so good out of the box you can wait to start modifying that until you get better with the car. As others have said a driving school or just track time will help you find the limits and abilities of the car.
I think hybrid ctr pretty much summed up exactly what I want. "Show and Go"
About the exhaust, you guys dont seem to like a Borla Exhaust? Why not? I do not want it as much for the loudness, but really want it for the hp gains. Is there a similiar exhaust system that gives a reasonable hp gain without being too loud?
Thanks again to all the responses. I never thought the board would be this busy. I'm going to go look at body kits right now and I'll post what I come up with.

Where would I go about finding an ITR front lip? And I have never heard of a UR crank pulley. What exactly is it? Like I said, I am very new at this. Also, I have looked over the body styles at http://www.andysautosport.com I like the combatbomb body kit. I'll post up a picture.
Tell me what you think.

Did you want my honest opinion?
Please, buy a GS or LS. Sorry man, but a R is a complete waste of $$ for what you wanna do with it. And that body kit will get you some HS girls.. maybe.. I never understood why you would need a car to get girls to look at you.. but whatever.
