I'm not talking from a performance standpoint, because we all know they're a big help. But I mean reliability wise. Is your car actually reliable on a day-to-day basis? Does it give you a lot of problems? When you started your turbo project, were you actually able to stay within your budget? I'd like to hear some opinions on whether it was all worth it for you.

unless u r really good at planning ur spending expect to spend 1k more on turbo then u want too. My car was 100% reliable for over a year till downpipe bolts and manifold bolts started backing out and I went crazy. Then I tried to make things complicated and it hasn't really been the same since. Keep it simple and u will have lots of good luck
Budget...what's a budget? I've shipped my car to the States from Germany and then driven cross country with it, family and all. I didn't have any turbo related problems with it, and got 40+mpg. As long as the maintenance is kept up I don't have any problems, other than an annoying little oil leak.
Yeah i'd do it again.I havent had any reliabilty problems. I've been turbo's for about 3 years. My budget was about $100 but so far i'm about 4k deep.... i'd do it again if i had the chance...not daily driver though....
Hell no i will never go back!! Once you get use to driving a 300+ Hp car and then you go drive a buddys stock car it is like night and day! i will never go back!!
Once you start going fast you will always want more, and then there goes the whole budget thing right out the window.
But you get what you pay for!!

I would do it all at once ! I mean built motor, ems, exhaust the whole nine yards ! I did mine just like most newbies...slap on the basic kit and tune it and then blew up a head an cracked a sleeve...And I could go on an on with all the problems I have had with this dam car
But yeah it's like a woman , one minute she is happy
...the next ...she is a beotch
I can't stress enough to do as much research an plan it out as best you can !
People here have helped me out so much I am in debt to them for life...Arturbo, DIRep972 an the entire VSV Performance crew !

For a D/D its very hard. I meen having a turbo car pushing out some hp is awsome- and impressing, but before you get one, you better know your car like the back of your hand. Little gremlins pop up everywhere once you turbo your honda. For example the past two days its been hard to drive my car to work, just because my A/F ratio is dangerously lean- and I dont want to risk anything untill I pin-point exactly whats wrong. Money wise, i planned on spending around 4k for my setup. I ended up spending 8k... Thats all i have to say about that. I would save up for a beater car before you FI ur Honda.

yeap!
yeap!
I had no problems at all..but then again I took it very slow and like Chris said I kept it simple! I drove the car around 65 miles a day round trip to work and back monday-friday on 7psi.
I stayed within budget... but you have to be realistic about your expenses, do a lot of research prior to diving in.
Reliability, knock on wood, 2 years now with more turbo miles on the car than NA and I've had no problems.
My girlfriend calls me a car snob now. She thinks I look down on any car that doesnt have +300hp, run the 1/4 in the 13s or faster, can be driven year round and get +30miles on the highway. She may be right

i only based the initial purchase on budget, everything after that was just like money i'd spend going to the movies or buying other ****; i'd just do it with whatever money i had to spend.
if i did it all over agn, not only would i have went turbo, i would've done it earlier, and started saving sooner. not only that, but i doubt i will ever go back. or i'll make sure at least every other car i own is boosted.

I want to turbo my teg as well, but if I do do it (it is a daily driver) I plan on doing it all... intake manifold, pistons, cams, cam gears, valves and springs, 3" cat back, fuel management, the works. The way I see it is if I want to turbo and want 100% reliability, I have to do all the work required from the nose to the rear.

I love my daily driver turbo honda
Only annoyance is an oil leak at the turbo oil return, but I'll be fixing that shortly.....
It's just like everyone on here says: Power, Reliability, Cost - pick 2 and forget the third...
And yeah, I've totally become a snob about lower power cars....I drive N/A cars and feel like I'm not going anywhere when I press on the gas....

Hell Yes I'd do it again. I drive my car daily to and from work and on the weekends I drive it to the Track and Back. There is no such thing as a budget when you own a Turbo car. It is definitely worth it!
I really can't drive my turbo car dailly, I work in NYC, and have a 70 mile round trip, I have driven it to work, and it is FUN!! but not really good for the car given the roads, and traffic.
so I drive a beater (95 Saturn, for $1000.)
wich is leading me in the directioin of going all out Full-RACE with my EG, wont be streetable... but it is going to be FAST... or maybe not, driving around at night after work is FUN too

How else do you expect to get 300 lb/ft out of a 4 cylinder motor reliably? Anyone who regrets turbocharging their honda obviously got in over their head. People do things cheap and then bitch when things go wrong....do it right the first time around and enjoy years of problem-free boosting.
i think my car is a true daily driver..... I drive 100 miles a day 6 days a week. Car is very reliablea and gas milage is still decent if my foot is feeling light. Like they said KISS. Do it right from the start....and yes i would turbo again if i had the second chance....its totally a diffrent car.
As for my budget.....still working on that

I personally think the way to go is to have a daily driver for work and a project car to make fast.
When I boosted my Civic, I was getting increasingly nervous about the things I was doing to it. In addition, on a car like that, most of us care about the "little" things like a/c, power steering, a quiet interior, etc.
On my CRX, I don't car if it's a loud gas guzzling monster.
