I'm swapping in a b16a1 into my 88 crx si, my question is when I order it, should I get the y1 or s1 tranny, and should I pay $300 extra for LSD to be added to the tranny, if so why? Is it worth it?

 

if you have the money def get an lsd. the j1 and s1 are geared almost the same i think- ( i have a non lsd si)

 

yes it is worth it... i have the ys1 w/lsd.... it drastically improves take off and cornering

 

$300 only, its worth it. LSD is a must, spend that extra $300 you wont regret it!!!

300 dollars is kinda a lot of money tho. think about it do you want it down the road? if you do then go for it cuz an aftermarket lsd unit, not tranny, alone will be 300.

My decision? I didn't go for it.....my past 2000 Si didn't have it and I never felt like it was holding me back in what I did with the car. Drag racing at the track some weekends, crusing around town. Now for road racing I'm sure it helps....and I even want to get into autocrossing.....but for the weekend warrior like myself its not worth it. If I competed i would.
