Default Please help D16a6 gone bad

I just replaced my spark plugs/wires cause it needed it. And i took it for a drive, it feels like theres no more power in it what so ever. When i accelerate all i hear and feel is pow pow pow. Sounds like backfire/misfiring. I hear it from the front more, and sometimes it shoots from the tailpipe. and when i sit there and watch it idle , you can feel the car shake some. Can you tell me whats wrong with it? Thanks in advance.

PS: I was taking 2nd gear to 4-5 RPM and it was only at 20 mph. Cant be right.

did you touch anything else besides the plugs and wires ? and did you let the motor cool off overnight before taking the old plugs out ?

Definitely ignition related--maybe u fubarred one of the new plugs or one is fouled--also check the cap/rotor and make sure each wire is snapped on tightly to each plug. Are the gaps correct?

Yes i did let the car cool down, because car has been sitting there waiting for new plugs/wires. And i didnt touch anything else. And i will check to make sure all the plugs are in correctly tomorrow, because its nasty outside. Ill let yall kno if problem is still there. The guy at the autoparts store said they were pre-gapped. they are NGK-R V power. So are they really pre-gapped? What is it suppose to be at? 0.40?

also make sure they are in the right order!

when you are looking at the distributor cap in front of you....the plug wires should be arranged as such:

I was always told .044-.046, but .040 is probably fine.

It really sounds to me like you have your wires out of order.

Okay folks, my ECU is throwing a Code 17 Vehicle Speed Sensor. Could this make my car run like ****? and backfiring? Even if its the speed sensor, because its not throwing any other codes and all the wires are correctly installed.

Just took the car out for a drive again and the speedo works, but the car just feels very slow. and it still backfires, and then i turned the car off and tried to recrank it would just crank and die and after the 3rd try it worked again .

I'm in for another vote that your wires are not in order. If they are, then you fucked something up on the install most likely. I'm also guessing you're reading the code wrong, and no, a VSS code would not slow the car down. I'm almost positive you put them in the wrong order.

And when i installed it all i did was unplug the old one and plugged the new ones in and lubricated it and plug it in the cylinders. easy as pie. didnt touch the dizzy either.

seems to be a big problem replacing plug wires. feels to me like i read people all the time having major igniton related issues or even idle issues after changing their wires. interesting.

Why didn't you replace the cap & rotor while you were at it?

The problem might be there.
