fix it ticket for exhaust!!!
i just got pulled over today for my exhaust, i have a greddy evo with a high flow cat. i'm thinking of selling it and getting an itr exhaust. would i lose much power? how much could i sell my 4 month old exhaust? would my 2.5 high flow bolt up to the itr exhaust and would the itr axel back bolt up to my greddy pipes? ohh and one more, anyone know any cool cops around so cal so i can get it written off?
thanks
thanks
I thought Gray Davis signed a law that a cop cannot give a fix-it ticket in SoCal anymore. It stated that a cop cannot give a fix-it for exhausts anymore. He would give you a "ticket of some-sort" to take it to the smog referee where they would measure the decibles. Anyways, check on GReddy's site as back in the day, they had a letter stating it was CARB legal. If not, you can always just grab a stock exhaust and put it to pay the fix-it.
i would think that you would lose a little (not much, but a little) power going from a greddy evo to an itr exhaust. the reasons for me thinking this is because the greddy evo is ~2.36" with a straight-thru muffler, while the itr is 2.25" with a chambered muffler. i dont think there would be a lot of power loss, but a little nonetheless. you would be restricting your exhaust flow a little more than it was before... btw, off topic question: how do/did you like the greddy evo with the 2.5" high-flo cat? thats the exact setup im wanting to get... how did it sound, and how loud was it? and how much of a change in the tone did the high-flo cat cause in the evo's sound?
the sound is great i actually love it but since i added my nitrous the last thing i want is more attention, heh i had to hide the switch when i was talking to the cop. but yea the high flow made it LOUD real loud. Is i possible to bolt on the itr axleback to the greddy piping? OOHHH yea i heard you needed an extension for the itr exhaust, how much and where could i get one made?

I always thought the EVO exhaust was carb-exempt and was street legal in every way, that's not as bad as me with my Apexi dunk out back, but I have a worse ticket, I got a obstruction of view for having a air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror, that was like 100 fix it ticket, talk about getting screwed

I recently got a ticket for the Evo exhaust too. I told him it was carb legal and its below the required noise level. He said it doesn't matter, you just can't modify the exhaust in anyway. Then the stupid cop said he won't give me a fix it ticket because he knows people would just uninstall it to get it signed and then reinstall it afterward. So he gave me this "special" ticket where I just need to pay f*cking $80. I bought the ticket in and paid for it and they never even brothered to check to see if I actually fixed it.
damn i hate CA cops just one of the few downsides of living in CA. hopefully i'll get the ticket written off by some friends of mine. Still looking for possible buyers! And i'm still wondering if a itr axleback can bolt on to greddy 2.5 piping?
As far as i know Greddy Evo is 50 state legal. if you have papers or can get them from Greddy then fight it. i respect the police and all but don't let them push you around/ intimidate you.

the greddy evo should be/is 50-state legal by itself, but when bolted up to a high-flow cat/test pipe, that will make the evo a lot louder (p1ccoloz even said so himself), therefore it wouldnt be under the db sound limit or whatever that you CA people have.
Funny, I have the EVO now with a 2 1/2 carsound cat. Not sure what you guys are talking about because my car was a lot quieter when I installed the carsound cat. I did change my header as well to a JG with modded 2 1/2 collector. Now I'm ditching the EVO for an ES oval with 2 1/2 piping.

yea they just give you tickets to get on your nerves, cause they think you dont know better. Just contact greddy and fight it.
