Default AEM intake help

tried the prelude forum but no luck, anyways i got an AEM shortram intake on my lude. Being an AEM i thought it would be a perfect fit, but when they installed it they left a hose loose, its the one that goes to the top of the intake , i think it hooks up to the air boost valve. Anyways i just put a breather filter on it so no dirt or stuff would get in there. My question is did i do the right thing, or should i make a small hole in the intake(which i dont want to do) so the hose would fit like stock, it seems to be running great and i can feel the difference from stock. I just wanna make sure Thanks in advance
