Default OT: Pleased with Fast and Furious

Even though it was a bit unrealistic and a little too Hollywood, I liked it a lot. It definitely got the adrenaline going...Im glad I took my Dad's Taurus rather than my R. I can't say the same for a flick like Driven...all through that one, I just rolled my eyes. But the plot in F&F wasn't as bad as I expected, and the racing was cool. All the stickers though...
There were also mad cops in the parking lot.

I'm pleased that the movie defined it's own style rather than tear up a very delicate genre [car movies..]. The script was head on with the theme of the film, which made it's directoral style emphasized the skill of Rob Cohen. I don't know if anybody caught "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" on the TV when the guys were in the living room. Anway, that was one of his previous films. I really liked how things were not too confusing for the audience. "Hector has three...Spoon engines" - I was looking around to see if anyone got that. Obviously not, even the ricers. I thought they were fans! Anywho, I'm done talking about the parts I enjoyed, there wasn't really a part of the movie where I was disappointed or bored. good flick. People could bash it if they want to.

Yeah, it wasn't all that bad. I'd see it again! The racing was a little off with NOS in 4th gear and 1/4 miles that lasted 2 min. But for a movie they did a good job. I loved the Yellow GT-R that was driven on the opposite side. My father and I were going nuts when we saw the red covered engines on the computer and he said "3 spoon engines."

I too was happy surprised with how much I enjoyed the movie. As an action-packed movie full of car chases aimed at a younger audience it did a great job. It's also worth noting that the engine sequences as we watch the fuel wind it's way thru the motor were very cool!

he said there were SR20DET's in the cars
I caught that one too. I was like why would they want SR20s when its a civic shell??? Or how about the spoon engine with the t66 turbo? uh huh will that thing even spool? My favorite one was when they popped open the Eclipse's hood and said, "turbo...blah blah... cold air intake.. " Yeah the script sucked, but hey i didn't go there expecting that it was gonna win an oscar.

Anyone notice the "Help" the domestic got pulling the front wheels off the ground while racing the supra? If you look underneath the car (even in the preview) you can see a strange forward facing set of "wheelie" bars... that push down on the ground and force the front end up into the air! (I bet real racers use those!!!)

Besides the help the domestic got, anyone notice the "Help" in the two bikes jumping over the hill along with the Supra (I think it was the Supra). There were two small ramps to launch them.

I thought the script was bad, but the movie had some nice eye candy. Too much filler in the movie; less truck theft sub-plot and more racing would have been better.

And they really weren't fast and furious, more like quick and somewhat angry.

It wasn't as bad as I expected, the rice element ate it up with knife and fork. The theater I went too was packed with "cars" that were there to see the movie. Not me jack, no way I was leaving my R outside the movie theater. Thats what hoopties are 4.

I saw the movie about 3 weeks ago at a preview and the blonde star, Paul whatever his name was (the Cop) was at the theatre and did a question and answer after. He said it took forever to film the Charger? racing the Supra because everytime they would stand the Charger up, it would stall because it was carburated. Overall I liked it.

I liked it, it was a major topic of discussion at the autocross on sunday, i was kinda surprised how many people had seen it (not just the punk import guys )....our local supra TT driver (and national champ) Kent Rafferty was all keyed up over the supra in the movie...apparently when it makes that hard turn as they take it out right after they build it, it locks the inside rear wheel in the corner. that indicates a TRD rear-end, which Kent wants....everyone who saw it recommended it to me, and now i'd recommend it to anyone who has an even mild interest in cars. Kent's now considering a Skyline...that would be pretty damn cool (though not sure if an R34 would be the best autoX car...maybe a 32 )

Aleph, who is moderately quick and at least somewhat perturbed.

nope. some replied, and then deleted their reply, thus leaving the thread sitting fresh atop our 2005 threads. this has happened more than once.

It is sad to see how boring the R is getting when
members ran out things to do like this.
