Default Auto-X Magnetic Numbers?

hello all,
I have changed classes this year and I am looking for a place that sells magnetic sheets for numbers. I am keeping the same number so I would like to be able to just buy a sheet and cut my own letters for my class. Does anyone have any good links?

Rich

I went to Office Max and bought some 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of magnetic paper that you can put in your printer. I then made a template in photoshop, printed it and cut them out with a razor blade. They look alright and do the job. They didnt' fall off in the 1 autox I've used them so far. That says a lot because I saw some professional ones flying off of a Z28

I picked some up while I was at the event, by a company called K&N magnetics.

They were hella expensive, but they work.

I swear that if you look in the yellow pages under Sign Shop you'll find a place in your town where you have your letters, numbers designed, made and mounted on the mag sheets for less then $30-$50. I swear you can do it in your own town with out having to do this online.

Those numbers seem very small and the class letters are even smaller. Have you ever had problems getting the wrong cone count cause that can't read your numbers correctly??

If you want to do it the cheap way. Do what I did.

Buy a 25 foot roll of the stuff. I got mine for $50.

Make you numbers, apply your decals, etc.. Then you
could easily sell the left over and make some money!

good luck,

aj

Yea, those don't look SCCA legal size. Fine for local events, but not for Divisionals and up.

Here's mine...

Go to the heating and cooling aisles at a hardware store, buy the magnetic vent covers, and make the damn things yourself. I spent $12.

I just bought "Touring Plates," a vinyl sticker, from http://edecals.com, then bought some plain magnetic stock from Pegasus http://www.pegasusautoracing.com. Pegasus sells it by the linear foot with a 2 foot width. Magnetic material is on page 28 of their catalog.

The local sign shop wouldn't hurt to check out, but I once asked one around here and they said it'd cost about $120 to do a magnetic sign.

DON'T get the magnetic sheets that are usable in inkjet printers. I made the mistake of doing this, and when it rains, it absolutely RUINS the numbers. First off, they stain easily (it's paper on top of a magnet), and the biggest thing is that when they get wet, when they dry they will distort like crazy and won't stick on the car.

My reco is go to Home Depot, go to where all the air ducting/vents are, and there you will find magnetic sheets that are used for vent covers. They come in packs of 3, its 8 bucks for the pack , they are white, the face is made of vinyl, the dimensions of the sheets are 8 by 15. Very cheap imo and they have done very well all last year.
