suspension set ups for auto-x
hey guys, just started to wonder about suspensions set ups for auto-x.
I'm thinking about doing all out suspension for my hatch but started to wonder if too much can mess up the frame or something.
I remember hearing something about if the sway bars are too thick the subframe can get bent. Would anything happen if i put on too many bars (sways, tie, strut, lower x-brace)? I was kind of thinking that it might put too much stress on the frame or something, but not sure.
Thanks

take a look at RJ's post at the top of this forum. that will answer a lot of questions. after that try to search for specific topics. if you don't turn up any results then post. other then that you'll have a lot of posts locked on ya, just some friendly advise. and welcome to honda-tech
thanks for the advice
, but i didn't really find what i was looking for in rj's post nor in the search...
maybe i just wrote my question funny or something
, but i wasn't asking how to set up my suspension or what each thing does cuz it somewhat sounded like i did when i reread it hehe. but what i'm really asking is that if i put on a lot of suspension parts, would it damage anything?
for example, if i put on bigger front & rear sways, rear lower tie bar, rear upper tie bar, rear strut bar, front strut bar, and front lower x brace, would all those bars damage the frame somehow?
but yea, thanks again for the advice tho

Sometimes a fat rear sway will be too much for the rear subframe and it will start to pull through. There is a kit out there that prevents this (made by Beaks???), but I'm not sure on applications. Other than that, you shouldn't have much else to worry about.
if you want to autocross then leave the car stock. bone stock. and run a whole year on it and work on learning how to drive. a pimpy jdm coil over suspension wont help you if you cant drive worth a ****.
this is the best and only advice you will need.

yea true that. i was planning on going a few times, then changing tires and go on it some more. once i start to feel comfortable (probably after half a year at the min) start adding slowly.
my stock tires are horrible. it has a lot of side wall flex so i'm debating if i should put on some azenis or not. seems like such a waste to dump somewhat new tires
.... oh well, we'll see what goes on in a few weeks.
thanks again for the advice

what you are hearing about the subframe ripping out is most likely related to the use of the ITR rear lower sway bar. The old mounting of it, aka hybrid.honda-perf.org style had the ITR rear lower sway bar mounted very close to the subframe. This caused many subframe ripouts. However, mounting kits are now avalible (Beaks and others) that allow a proper mount on the subframe. But in general, properly mounted bracings will not damage your car
