Do I need this heatshield?
I took the heatshield off my cat and the one right past the cat towards the rear end that is right under the shifter. 0 problems. Acura even OK'd to do it when I called them about it because it was rattling like a biotch.
the only thing that i have found from doing this is...when you run your car hard it heats up the shift ****(mine is metal) and the the shifter gets heat soak'd and burns your hand. just FYI.
Depends on your ****, my Razo metal one feels fine but I can feel the shifter itself warming up.
I have taken all the heatshields off my car and not 1 problem so far... it did get a tad louder though.

on a side note, many who experience the 3000rpm buzz on the gsr take note -- your a-pipe on the header is causing it. remove that pos, and get a comptech one like me

He's talking about the A-pipe itself, #10 or #11 in the picture at the top of the thread. It's a pipe-inside-of-a-pipe, and the inner pipe buzzes against the outer.

yup...you have to replace the header to get rid of that buzz -- don't even bother getting a new oem one, either

I have no heatshields at all on the actual exhaust, except for the one that covers the manifold in front (the rear half is gone). The only other one I have is that one that bolts to the car above the cat. All my shields on the cat itself and the rest of the pipe under the floorboard are gone. I even parked in 2-ft. tall grass one time and it didn't even do anything.
