Default radiator leak... where's it coming from?

I just can figure out where its coming from.. seems like the whole bottom "tank" is soaked in coolant, and its just dripping everywhere. I cant find any cracks or anything.. anyone else have this problem? possible suggestions? TIA

I would take it out of the car, seal the ports with silver tape and fill it with water. It may help you find the leak. 9 times out of 10, it's in the plastic tank area of the radiator, and depending on the shop can be an expensive fix.

I was quoted $87 if I took the radiator out and delivered it to the shop, and thus, elected to buy a used radiator from a member here.

i think theres a tool where it coveres up radiator cap and air is pummped in. this will cause liquid to leak out of the area where leak is comming from.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I just ordered one from radiators.com for $125 shipped overnight (compared to acura's $375!) there was a crack on the side, and the whole bottom tank was detached from the rest of it..

yup try radiators.com or get the OEM for about $370 with tax.

Yoshi234 and mikehonda replaced mine yesterday thanks!

http://www.imagestation.com/al...82515

they replaced my themostat as well (stock).

My car started to slightly steam yesterday. If you get a new rad, get the rad seals on the sides as well.

mine leaked top plastic area. dead center. Mikehonda theorizes that it is possible the spoon rad cap may have caused more pressure and eventually the process cracked the rad. just a theory.. i had 61k miles on the rad but placed the spoon high pressure cap maybe 45-50k or so on the car.

-aoib0t, who can not drive like normal with his normal rad cap for now

remember, don't open the rad cap when the rad is fully pressureized.
don't add cold water to a hot rad as well... I added distilled h20 yesterdy after it cooled down consideraby (the rad was dry)

All my rad pics are here

http://www.imagestation.com/al...82515

Here are the seal part numbers on the side(you need 2)...

Here is the seal (it is black and looks like a big windshield wiper blade)

~$15 per side.

make sure you put it on the correct side. You can check my pics to make sure

-aoib0t, who knew these pics would come in handy

I think to prevent from air on the outside going into the radiator. the seals are used to seal off outside air so that the a/c condenser and rad are closed. I dunno if you need them but they are separate from the rad if you buy from radiators.com I would imagine.

-aoibot, who forgets why those seals are required, but they are on the original so he will keep them in there.
