Stop the Presses!!! Fisi might have won in Brazil!
The FIA just announced that they might have made a mistake. It now appears that Fisi had started the 56th lap at the time of the red flag, which means that the finishing positions would be based on the completion of the 54th lap instead of the 53rd. Fisi led on lap 54. If the FIA upholds that the 56th lap was started, then Fisi gets the win!!!

Finally, the FIA might actually make a good decision! Rules are rules, I know, but the way it all went down really sucked, and I hope for Fisi and the whole Jordan team that the change is made to the results.

I understand that the FIA is reviewing tapes of the IRL's handling of the HCN/Tracy Indianapolis finish to see how to best handle the situation - "He pass me under yellow!"
Seriously, I am bummed that I missed this one, living in a motel w/o SPEED while house hunting.

It's a shame that Fisi didn't get the chance to stand on the top step, or sit in the middle for the press conference, but it would be great to see him get the win in the record books. He truly deserves it!!!

What NOT to do with your Jaguar racecar! That's gonna cost 'em....
It kills me to see the Honda car looking like this.
But at least its wheel didn't just fall off!
Perhaps the biggest victim of all the mayhem
Jordan cars are flame broiled. Other F1 cars are just boiled!

actually, it makes sense now that I'm hearing more about it. It isn't two full laps! Think about it, they are saying that if Fisi started lap 56, then the finishing order is the END of lap 54. If it was only one lap, that would mean the finishing order would be the end of lap 55. The problem is, only one car finished lap 55 - Fisi. So what order would you use? Fisi's pass was a couple of turns before the start/finish line on lap 54, and he held the lead for just under 2 minutes before the red flag came out. That puts him just over the line to start 56. The win is Fisi's, and the two lap rule is appropriate.

Ah... that does make more sense. The dufus announcers on Speed were ignorant and misleading as usual. Thanks for clarifying.

Matt, I almost want to congratulate you if he wins, I know how much you like Fisi.
I am also happy to see an Italian doing well in F1...it's been a while. If only he was driving an Italian car (not a Minardi...)

I liked him more when he was racing a Honda, but yes, I think he's amazing. Definately in the top 3 drivers currently racing in F1....
I would LOVE to see BAR get him to replace Villeneuve. If BAR and Honda can improve just a little bit more, it could happen!

Fisichella couldn't hold Schumacher's, Raikkonen's, Montoya's or Barrichello's sweaty balacalava.
