Default 99 Si timing belt on first gen b16?

my friend has a jap spec first gen b16 in his hatch but he needs a new timing belt. i have a 99 si timing belt but i wasnt sure if it would fit and i dont have the old belt to compare it too. I also will give him the 99 si water pump. i just want to be sure the tooth count and length is the same before i go ahead and install it....

it is the same.

b18 timing belt is like 18mm longer, as the b18 block is like 9mm taller.

i also heard that the older b16's crank gear has less teeth than the newer ones due to the crank sensor.

i ask these questions because his car is really down on power and the gears and the crank marks line up but the car still doesn run right. when i advance the timing all the way it gets better so im suspecting a timing problem and i thought maybe it was the belt or the components i used...
