Who's going to RoadAmerica May 10-11th?
http://www.tracktime.com lists that registration is still open at a cost of $350 per day.
But I read on a local BMW site, if we can get 5 people together, we would get a group rate, so anyone interested in going or is already going?

Honestly, I don't know.
But after talking to Wai, I'm going to wait and try to go with Chicago BMW club because the rates are much better. ($350 for two days)

I'll be instructing at the BMW Club event May 3-4. It's $350 for club members, $400 for non-members.
The application for this event has been out for a while. I don't know if it's full yet or not; you can find out by sending an e-mail to Barb Adams at adams2002@aol.com
If anyone would like an application to this event, IM me with your fax number.

Well, it costs what it costs. You're not likely to find events that are going to be much less expensive than that. Not at the big-name tracks like Road America or Mid-Ohio that are spectator venues, anyway. And BMW CCA (and similar not-for-profit marque clubs) are the least expensive events there; for-profit organizations like TrackTime and Skip Barber are a lot more money than that.
Some club events at the "club tracks" like GingerMan, BeaveRun, Putnam, etc, are a little bit less expensive, usually $150 or so per day. And those tracks are better for the track novice student.

i have to agee with ken. it is unlikely you will find a two day event at a track like road america, mid-ohio, watkins glen, road atlanta, laguna seca, etc for much if anything under $300
look at the price for this may 10/11 event. $350 per DAY. that is way more than i would ever spend per day.

If you're looking for another track that's similar to GingerMan - good for novices, but also a lot of fun, and not quite as expensive as the big ones - I would recommend Putnam Park, which is 35 miles west of Indianapolis (figure 3.5-4 hours from downtown Chicago). BMW CCA holds events there in April (Hoosier Chapter), May (Buckeye Chapter), and June (Bluegrass Chapter). I'll be instructing at the event there next weekend.
Another one in this category is Grattan, just northeast of Grand Rapids. Grattan is like driving a roller coaster, and it's still my fourth favorite of the 20 tracks I've driven. BMW CCA holds events there in September (Windy City Chapter) and October (Motor City Chapter).
