http://www.solo2.com/ This covers most of Southern California, except for San Diego.
I'd venture to say you'd be in SM with you CF hood. Which means if you're going out to have a good time, you'll have fun. If you're going out to win...eh.

There are a variety of organizations that host track or lapping days in or near Southern California if you want to try your car on a real race track:
Buttonwillow Performance Driving Clinic
Speed Trial USA
Touring Car Club
Plus, a few more I'm not that familiar with. Buttonwillow's Clinic may be the best bet for a true novice, as there are no timed runs or race groups to intimidate newcomers.

Touring Car Club has an event on May 3-4 at Willow Springs. Fastlane Driving School is the official driving school for the club now, so you'll definitely get good instruction and learn at the fastest track around here.
I started getting into road racing after I attended a Speed Trial USA event. I've been hooked into it ever since. Unfortunatly, their event seems to be getting more crowded these days due to popularity. I would still suggest trying them out. Enroll as a beginner. You're going to need a SA certified helmet and good running condition car.
http://www.unlimitedlaps.com if you're into the HPDE thing.
They may get back down to Buttonwillow this summer. Les Vegas isn't out of the question either. Stay tuned.

Since you're in SoCal, check http://www.redlinetrackevents.com, they do an event at Willow Springs or Buttonwillow every single month. I've started going with them religiously now, they are inexpensive and you get tons of track time (3+ hours usually).
