Default 15" wheel or 16"!!!

In your opinion and experience which of these wheel sizes give you the optimum performance on the track? Besides the weight factor does that inch really make a difference? I have searched and didnt really find much? Your info would be appreciated, thanks.

15s anyday unless it is a 1st or 2nd gen Integra or 84-91 Civic/CRX - then it is 14s.

from what i hear. there is a difference b/w 15" and 17". but dont know about 16". ive never raced so i dont know. but i know that at a drag strip, the 15" tires will be faster than the 17" if they are equal wieght or perhaps even lighter. dont know how it goes in road racing, i have heard larger rims are better, but for some reason i dont beleive that. im curious too

For what kind of use on what kind of track? And with what kind of tires (street or r-compound)?

Trying to help-

optimal road race and autocross wheels can vary quite a bit in size, depending on application, car classification, and whatnot and so forth. Although it sounds like you'd be perfectly happy with a set of 15" "rimz."

Michael, it is spelled "riiiiimz" until you get to 20" then it is spelled "duuuuubz"

Get it straight please,

i have heard that if your car is making lots of power that 15 inch wheels tend to spin easily. is this true?

That comment is so broad and general, it makes me want to cry.

I dont mean to be an ***, and please dont take this the wrong way, but if you've only heard, and never done any type of racing with actual turns, then keep your mouth shut.

Smaller wheels are better for drag racing because they allow you to run a larger, floppier sidewall that can skew and bent and increase the contact patch of the tire upon launch.

Not a big difference between 16 and 15? It is when there is a heavy bias toward tires in certain sizes (ie 15"), and when every fraction of a second counts.
