well I'm not a newbie to working on cars. I know a lot about cars hondas and stuff but I have never worked on a 96ex. My brother bought some Sylivvian SuperStars and wanted some help installing them. I though it was going to be a pice of cake like my EF and 93 accord but way different.

Everything feels rubbery and doens't seem to turn/lock into place like other honda headlights light bulbs. My brother yanked out the blub and out came a metal braket that seem to be there to hold it in place....(i think most know what i'm talking about..it looks like a paper-clip bent into a curvy shape)

please help my little bro. I don't want him to look down on his big brother over some simple ***** like this. I mean i know my stuff but, i just don't want to break it.

 

yeah, that clip get annoying. What you have to do is pull back the black rubber sealing thing once your ready to put the lights in. Pull it back and get the end with the 90 degree angle to go in the rubber. kind of confusing, but when you push the rubber part down into the headlamp hole, the 90 degree angled side of that wire thing is forced down and makes the hooked end go down too. Now try and push the hooked part and push it so it hooks on the little place (you'll see where it goes). It deffinitely can be tricky sometimes. Hope this helps.

 

Was there a screw holding in the "paper-clip" thing? Basically, once you lock the bulb into place, put the metal-thing back the way it was, screw in the screw, put the rubber thing back on, and plug it in.

Replacing the bulbs are a pain in the ***, its easier w/ a magnetic screwdriver so that everytime you try to screw it back in the metal-thing doesn't fall back out.

you guys know exactly what i'm talking about. I will try fixing it agian tomorrow. hopefully I'll be smarter than that paper clip!

you mean 96-98

 

It's easy. Unplug wire. Pull rubber seal out. Depress retainer clip and open clip out. Take bulb out. Put new bulb in. Push retainer clip in. Put rubber seal back on. Put the plug to the bulb. 5 minutes or less.

 

watch out though, if the spring comes fully out, it means that you most likely broke a small piece of plastic that helps hold it in.

I did get them to stay in there with it broken. BUt when i took them out to paint the housing, i noticed it was broken. so i took a small washer and put it under the screw that is next to the plastic part. this heald the metal spring in place again. problem solved.

I had some rust on my stock lights, hence the reason that i broke the plastic. I have a 98 civic.
