Ok well after survivor series on the 6th i started to hear some really loud rattling noise coming from what sounded like the tranny. A couple of people told me it was the flywheel bolts. So me and my friend dropped the transmission to take a look at the flywheel. And when we took it off all the bolts except one just dropped to the floor. So basically only one bolt was holding the flywheel to the crank. Its a CM flywheel by the way. All the bolts look like someone took some sandpaper and scraped the top of them and then bent the crap out of them. And the holes on the flywheel are warped and messed up.
So then we try using the one good bolt in the other holes to see if the threads on the crankshaft are messed up. sure enough the threads are messed up.
The setup was a clutchnet pressure plate, act street strip clutch, and a CM flywheel.
So what i want to know is if anyone has any idea why this happened?

You need threadlock.
You need threadlock.
Yeah, I had some flywheel bolts back out on me before too but I caught it before they were damaged real bad. Luckily I got all the bolts in withought having to re-tap it because a #12 tap with the fine 1.0mm pitch is really hard to find. I will always use threadlock on flywheel bolts from now on.
My friend jdmEKhb's B18C is making a rattling noise like that too.. It's very hard to pinpoint because originally I thought it might be a flatcam and it sounded like it was coming from the valvetrain... So yea... I pulled out the cams, rockers, and everything was fine... Put it back together and did a valve adjust and then checked out the bottom end... All bearings were within spec, and the thrust washers looked pretty good... So I pulled out the starter and pop started the car... That made the sound real loud so i'm fairly sure it's coming from within the clutch casing... He too is running a CM along with a ACT Maxx Xtreme PP and 4 puck disk... I'm just going to be really pissed if that's what the problem is because I always red loctite and quadruple torque the flywheel bolts... We'll see tho... Since we're both at different colleges I gotta wait a couple weeks before I can pull his tranny... He hasn't driven his car for a few months now cuz we haven't had time to find out what the problem is... Oh well, sorry to hear about your **** too... Peace

i think if the damage is not too bad you can tap the threads. (12 mm i belive) if its convient i would take the crank up to a machine shop and get it checked for trueness, make sure its in balance, i always do this just to be on the safe side.

How tight were the bolts?
Are you sure your torque wrench is accurate at the specified torque? I've got a cheap shitty taiwan piece and I've compared it against a snap on and a craftsman wrench and the cheap wrench is waaay off.
When the clutch was changed on my old Si, the bolts were NOT Loctite'd and they didn't back out.

How long did it take for them to back out? i also didn't use locktite and i used a calibrated micro torque craftsman torque wrench. Did you use one that clicks or the one that just bends out of shape???
I have done over 100 clutches on H/A's.....
I have never ever ever seen a flywheel bolt back out after torquing down.
Are you positive you got the proper amount of torque on there?
That is just unheard of.......but now I heard it, so now I know about it.
Crazy, I hope it all goes well for ya.
Special order the tap if you cant find it.
