carfax thread
Does anybody have the link to the thread that was on here about a month ago with the results of all of the carfax searches? I can't get the search feature to work for some reason....
Thanks.
Matt
Thanks.

CarFax... snicker...
When Jon Felton ran it on my Jeep, it really wasn't right at all. I know when I bought it and when I had it retitled and one wasn't on there and the other was just flat wrong.
Maybe mine was a fluke, but maybe it wasn't...
r2x ~ who is left wondering how often they don't get it right and how many people rely on it when they buy stuff.

Diane, I woulda bought your Jeep regardless of its Carfax report, because I knew that it had been taken care of (and btw, 6k miles later it's still chugging right along; thanks again!)
I agree though, CarFax is not always right. It couldn't be, considering all the different things that could make a car a bad choice... therefore I consider it better than nothing but certainly not a deciding factor on whether or not you should buy a particular car. I'd pay much more attention to a folder full of service records...
PS- a local wholesaler had a black Ferrari Mondial for sale on Ebay last year. It was clean from 20 feet but pretty rough up close (signs of major front/side body & paint work, missing headlight/front trunk parts, cut top, oil leaks, etc.) Just for kicks I ran the VIN thru CarFax, and it came up with a salvage title in CT. But it sold for good $$$ because it had a clean title in VA. Whoever bought it got ripped off! And that is an example of why it never hurts to check the CarFax just in case.
IMHO of course,
Jon
