wheres my oil going?
ok there is a oil knome in my car.
i was taking a corner pretty hard in vtec the other day. and when i was in that turn vtec shut off. so i was like ohh **** i just lost oil pressure. as soon as i go out of the turn vtec came back.
i pulled over right away to check oil. the dip stick is dry as a bone.
wtf. so i called honda for a appoitment. put a whole quart of mobil 1 full syn before it it filled the dip to between the holes.
the car is not burining it that only smoke thats comming out of the car is when going to redline there is a puff of black not much just a puff. since i have no cat i would see oil buring i am thinking.
ok so honda looked at it and found nothing wrong with it. checked valves all seals. the car is not leaking one drop either. i have never had this problem with the car before. where is the oil going. or maybe honda did not fill it all the way last time???????

cars with high piston speeds tend to wick oil out of the engine...Mobil 1 seems to be really good at finding its way into the exhuast. It's not really a bad thing, but you gotta check it regularly. I burn less now that i'm using good old castrol GTX....there's a number of threads on oil and oil consumption, search might yeild some.
Same here... I'd have to say, I baby my R as much or more than anyone else here, and yet, I burn oil consistently.
Before my 00' R was stolen it too started to burn oil a bit. I thought I had not properly "broken in" the engine.
After getting another R, I knew I could avoid the oil problem by trying a different "break-in" method... nope.
I'm almost sure our cars are mechanically perfect... they just burn (synthetic) oil.
I switched from Mobil1 to Castrol, and burning is minimal, but still there.

I had this issue with my previous GSR except it was really bad with mobil 1 syn. I took it to Acura and they completely rebuilt the bottom end and the problem became worse after a proper break in by the techs themselves. Shortly after that they ordered a new shortblock and that took care of the problem. If the problem gets worse, keep taking it in and complaining. (I was loosing 1 quart every 500 miles) only hitting vtec on occasion.

Some oil consumption is normal. What is the rate you are loosing it at...
Meaning how often are you in vtec throughout a certain given mileage. I mean according to Honda they say per 3k miles one court consumed is normal.

I bothers me that some on this board have replaced rings that result in zero oil loss.
But hey, they could be "unsure" since they went through so much trouble to resolve the issue anyway.
I'd say "my engine quit burning oil" too if I just spend a load on a rebuild.
not really.

My car burns none, even at track days with castrol gtx. 3000-5000 mile between changes and I stopped checking the level cause it never changes
M1 does have a history of disappearing in these cars though.

here's VTEC ::RAR::
here's oil ::stammering in fear::
the end.
my engine loves to burn oil, when i run it hard. i've never had the problem you're having either and i always run synthetic. then again i always check my fluids before i run it at the track. always check your fluids before you know you're going to "push" your car.
