you need the 98 service manual, and the 2000 supplemental. not sure of the actual book numbers though.

DO NOT GET THE 2001 SUPPLEMENT, it's almost completely useless, you need the 2000 supplement. I found this out the hard way.

Why is the 2001 one version useless?

Buy it and you'll see why, most of it is clarification of terminology, Honda changed a lot of their wording into SAE terms for the 2001 year.

Do we really need the 2000 supplement? I got the 98 helm already, so do I still need the 2000 supplement and why? Thanks!

Yes, you need it, they changed a lot of the wiring, and there are a few items that are specific to the '00-01 model years.

Only get the supplement if you need to mess with the wiring, specially ECU. I think that's most of the 2000 supplement but I rarely look at mine (actually I don't even know where it is).

2001 supplement is pretty useless.. in theory you should have 98/99/00/01 for the "complete" set but anything beyond the 98 is pretty useless.. the 99 supplement is like 25 pages and 30 bucks..

you don't need it. it's a good idea if you want to mess with ecu wiring, but you don't need it at all. I've never even used mine.

Most of it is just ECU stuff. There isn't even an Engine section in it.
this stuff here

And for those that haven't seen how much info the Helms has, here is another one I made of the Head.
