New Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust System??????
I was at my local import store the other day and my friend showed me the new Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust system.
It was sitting right beside the Buddy Club Spec III exhaust and from what we could see, the Skunk2 was FAR better fabricated than the Buddy Club.
The quality of the welds and the stainless steel used is phenominal!
Does anybody have any experience with this system or any comments about it?

Anything tha has the words Mega Power in its name has to be good...
What could possibly be a better exhaust name than 'Power Getter' ??

I had it. It sounds nice, fit well, and had good quality. Although the resonator crapped out on me. I get it when it first came out in july 01. I upgraded to a Type One becasue of bigger piping.

Uhh, that thing is on my car as we speak! And Mega Power LOUD AS HELL is more like it.
What do you guys want to know? Other than sound and tone which Everyone will hear five miles before I arrive at the Expo...
The construction is very good but, you wouldn't expect less from Invidia and their current robotic TIG welding. (It is however Not related to R*SR.) The welds are nice, it is 60mm OD piping from cat to muffler with no bottlenecks or neckdowns, Although the muffler cannister has a smaller diameter pipe that runs about 4 inches in length and about 2" in diameter that supposedly creates a Venturi effect, (Learned this when I spoke to a Skunk2 Rep after I got it.) And supposedly responded with better midrange power With this pipe during dyno sessions. I tend to think this pipe hampers top end and if it doesn't look to good to Dave Stadilus, I'll remove the inner pipe or just sell it and get his bolt-on setup.
It has a deep tone between idle and about 5K RPM then it gets higher pitched and wails to redline, (again, you'll hear it at the Expo.) Did I mention it's loud? Louder than the Apexi N-1 for sure.
It is a very affordable setup but, is relatively heavy, And Doesn't provide as much kick as I thought it might. I'd expect maybe 3-5 hp tops and that's combined with a Spoon header and Carsound cat.
I got it from http://www.inlinefour.com for $499. They had it in stock and it was the cheapest from them last Christmas. They sold the Apexi N-1 for $479. But, you had to buy the silencer for extra $$$. The Skunk 2 comes with the silencer included for their total price.
I have two other options to look at next season, the SMSP bolt on setup and the RM01A, if I really want to spend the $$$.
But, for me this season it was a budget issue and it fit in very well at half the price of what I was also looking at AND allowed me to afford another track event (2 days at Watkins.) Seat time is more important to me now but, the noise can get annoying after awhile.
For the price is it worth it? Yep... For the price...

Also, are there any bottlenecks in the system?
Lastly, if I'm trying to build a 225whp engine with the usual (I/H/C/E, cams, hondata, etc.) will this exhaust support what I'm trying to do?

Hey 1GreyTeg can you tell me the diameter of the piping?

225 WHP NA? I'd invest in a better setup, like SMSP's catback. Go 2 1/2" piping... the 60mm piping from the Skunk2 Megapower most likely won't be enough.
Good luck,
A.
We're selling the Invidia cat-back exhausts for $475 shipped at the moment. You can email me at joey@massimoperformance.com if you're interested.
I had it on my 99 gsr over a year ago. Took it off because it was just entirely too loud for my tastes. It did give incredible throttle response though. Quality is top notch. The piping is very thick. Feels really solid but is still light weight. If your not concerned with it being too loud. Id definately recommend it. Looks really sharp too.
The exhaust looks fantastic and the reviews all point to good performance.
BUT, the 2.3" diameter is a concern for me as I am trying to get close to 225whp N/A.
Does anybody know what other exhausts come with 2.5" piping?

I'm shocked that you guys say the Skunk2 is loud. I heard it on an RSX Type S and it sounded nice and deep. The quality looks outstanding. It was not that loud. It's louder than the APEXi N1? For the guying making way over 200 whp NA, I'd invest in a custom SMSP 2.5 catback with no bottlenecks.
I have the invidia version on my car and it is the same as the Skunk2. With the silencer in I noticed a power decrease vs my Greddy exhaust. There are not bottlenecks and the welding and finish is impecable. Mine is fully polished. As for power without the silencer in. It is only slightly more than the Greddy but it is LOUD!!! Not as loud as a straightpipe but it is loud. With the silencer it is quieter than the Greddy.
