HOW TO: Gunmetal/polished lip LS wheels
Due to numerous requests for a how to, here ya go:
1. Clean wheel thuroughly, lightly sand if desired.
2. Tape off lip. I started the lip right where the spokes end. It takes skill and patience as you need to get the tape to curve with the lip. It WILL tend to crease, which is fine, as long as it coveres the lip good.
3. after the lip is taped off, MAKE SURE all the tape is sticking down on the wheel, you dont want paint to get under it.
4. Apply primer, I used a light coat followed by a medium coat. you dont need a whole lot of primer, so dont overdo it.
5. Primer dries quick, give it about 5 minutes and apply paint. I used a light coat, followed by one thick coat. DONT OVER PAINT. all you need is enough to cover the wheels, not milions of coats. Make sure you paint in different directions to get the sides of the spokes as well. I used roughly one can for all 4 wheels...so that tells you how much you need.
6. Let paint dry for about 30 mintues, and apply clearcoat. I just put one thick coat on, enough to where it looked nice and glossy.
7. Let the clearcoat dry for about an hour before installation. I let them sit inside overnight to be safe.
thats it, your done

Thanks a LOT bro! That is what I'm looking for. Will that work on my machined surface GSR daisies? And what can you do for some spots on the rim where the very edge is kinda.. gone? Like, corroded off? Just little 1/4" spots, but..

Next time you change your tires ask for the adhesive wheel weights. I used to have the same wheels and the bash on wheel weights always took away from the look. Nice wheels though.
