To Turbo or Not to Turbo
I've got a '98 GS and have been seariously looking into turboing it, I've got the means... but is it a good idea? I'm just looking for the pros and cons... aka - am I still gonna have an engine 6 months after I install a turbo??
Thanks for the help,
Thanks for the help,
I think you know the answer to your question!
I am sure you know going boost requires high maintenance for your car to function at its peak. Where as going all-motor requires less maintenance.
There are many other pros and cons but since I am biased towards allmotor...My opinions would only sway you from doing what you want to do.
Peace

There is no correct answer. It depends on how much time and money you put into it. A common saying is....
Fast, Cheap, Reliable....you can only pick two!!!
Turbochargers/ Superchargers require the proper amount of tuning to get it running correct, in which there are people on here that will tell you that they have been boosting for years now with no more problems than normal. All motor is definitely easier and less maintenance but it is extremely hard to get the max power out of it and comes no where near the power that a turbo can provide.
BTW: the costs associated with each are very similar....I looked into both setups and turboing my car came out to be about 1000 bucks more, but I am able to get close to 200 whp more than with an all motor setup

...or is it still broken?
