New Azenis need a break in?
I remember reading on an online tire shop that they heat cycled your tires before shipping them out. I think it was something like heat them up and let them sit for 24 hours so the molecules reform. Do these need to be done to my new Azenis or am i loosing my mind?
I am wondering the same. Mine are brand new and I don't know of the 5-6hr drive will be enough to break them in.
Should I break out the propane torch? (jk!)

What "extra crap" are you talking about? Do they put a coating on them? Also 500 miles of what? Regular driving, no hard turns?

500 miles or so should get the extra crap off of them.
Absolutely!I ran my brand new Azenis at an autocross the day before I hit Limerock just to "break them in." I left the Autocross thinking " Ok these are good tires but what's all the hubb-bubb about?"
I drove Limerock for the first time the next day and after just my first session I was totally impressed with how tenacious their grip was AND in the rain and drizzle till it cleared up. When it dried up they were totally awesome, and I ended up only resetting the pressures once and running them that way all day.
500 miles will be just fine. They will feel awesome by the end of your first session.

You'll be fine, they are road tires anyway, Not R compounds where you need to worry more about this.
Just be sure to pack your spare and a few cans of fix-o-flat just in case.
So 500 miles of hard driving. Cool.
Just drive them normally, don't push anything on the road. Be safe and save the fast "not hard" driving for Saturday and Sunday.
If you have any major concerns, talk to your instructor. He will take a few laps to show the line and feel out your car And your tires before you drive. So you don't have too much to worry about.
I did an event last year in my civic hatch. I had the tires (azenis) mounted Friday morning before we left. I drove to VIR from here, which is about 175 miles and the tires were fine on the track. Just normal highway driving.
Do any of you get slight rubbing with the 205/50/15 Azenis at left full lock on the steering wheel?

No rubbing at all for me either. I'm on stock rims.

Sorry to drift on this topic. But would there be any rubbing on a Type R with 16" Rota Slips 45 offset with 215-45-16 Azenis. I have a pending sale that I need to confirm this for. Thanks....
I got quoted $330 today for the install of 205/50/15 azeni's with balancing and mounting... does that sound right?
I certainly hope not
That actually sounds like the price I might pay for the tires, and mounting and balancing, etc., from the local discount tire. I sure hope thats what you mean, otherwise someone stayed on the crack pipe a little too long

If you put them on and then drive straight on track with no break in you'll take your instructor on an agricultural excursion within a few laps fo' shizzle.
That sounds reasonable.
$330. is $82.5 per tire.
The tires sell for $62. at Vulcan where I got 'em the cheapest. And a VG mounting and balance near me is between $15. to $20. per wheel/tire. So although that may be like $10. to $20. higher where you are, that is decent here near NYC.
So you could shop around a bit more OR buy them from Vulcan and have them shipped and mounted and balanced near you but, that may actually cost more since most tire shops don't make money on the labor of mounting and balancing, they want to sell you tires at inflated prices. Plus you may have a difficult time finding a good mounting and balancing place to do the work...
Good luck,
A.

I would hope that each instructor would be asking about the tires and inspecting them (amongst other things,) Before he takes the first few laps. Especially when safety is such an important issue.
