Default First Time Dyno...Help a Brotha Out

First off, I didn't know getting on the Dyno costs so much. I called up Altered Atmosphere in MD and they quoted me $85 for a baseline run (consists of 2 runs). An extra $35 if I wanted the wideband O2 sensor hooked up. This is all Chinese to me and I'm not Chinese. The per hour rate (which i guess is for tuning) is $100...again $35 extra for the wideband. So here comes the questions.

a.) Are these prices fair?

b.) What difference does does it make to have a wideband 02 sensor connected while doing a dyno run?

The price for the baseline runs sounds quite high. The shop I go to charges $50 for two runs.

The tuning price is not that expensive but I don't know how you'd do it without the wideband, so it's not that cheap afterall. The shop I use charges $150 an hour for tuning, if they tune it, $100 an hour if you wrench on the car yourself.

What exactly is the Wideband O2 sensor used for? Is it to get readings and tune for the Air/Fuel Ratio? If that's the case, I would assume I don't need that for a baseline run, right?

Correct. If you're just doing a baseline run the O2 sensor isn't going to be of much use (unless you suspect there's a problem, in which case it will turn into a tuning session).

Is your car stock? If you're just trying to get an idea of where you're at before you mod it, using the O2 sensor is a waste of money.

Yeah, my car is pretty much stock but I got big plans for it just like everybody on this board. I regret not getting in a dyno run before I put in my Icebox.

just go pay for the baseline runs and get it done.
unless you are tuning, which you are not, you wont have to worry about
the rest.
