DC 4-1 Header on D16A6 - Review
I recently finished installing a DC 4-1 header from a 96-00 Civic sohc into my 1991 CRX. There was some confusion as to whether or not it would fit, how would the ground clearance be, etc. Here is what I found out.
- The header fits great but it is not a bolt on job. The collector will not match up with the stock exhaust location. Its off by about 2". Since I was doing a new, custom exhaust, I didn't care.
- Ground clearance is fine. It's not as good as a 4-2-1 for clearance, but much better than the 4-1 on a B16 in a crx.
How does it work? Awesome. The power in night and day different, but it is probably due to a couple of changes I made at the same time. My old setup was an OBX header, Hi-Flow Carsound Cat, 2.25" exhaust with Dynomax bullet resonator and a short Magnaflow muffler.
My new setup is the DC header, no cat, two straight through silencers, side out exhaust exit.
One other thing to note. I have a Place Racing crossmember so I cannot comment on clearance of the stock one to the header.
Here are a couple of pix:

The collector sat below and to the right of the catalytic flange. Then length was fine, just the side to side that was off. You would probably have to cut the front foot or two off your existing exhaust and have it repositioned.
a little info for the HB guys. I got a 96-00 dc 4-2-1 on my 90 hb and it bolted on perfect and clearance is good also

Good review
. i just installed a RS-R header on my 91 Si . i have a Y8 head on it. the only problems i ran into was i had to drop the front crossmember and its about 1" too short from meeting my test pipe. i just made the test pipe too so i have to cut the end off and weld in a section to lengthen it. the only other small problem i ran into was the mount off the back off the block for the header doesn't reach so i need to fabricate something for that too. the header said it was for a 92-95 EX
