i just sent my head to bullfrog racing. bill gude the owner is going to do a race package on it. reground cams new valves springs retainers port and polished head a shaved 40 thousands. he claims it makes 200 horse. by shaving the head the compression goes from 9.2.1 to 11.1.1 will this be a strong setup and will the high compression be fast. plus he also claims the heads will be able to handle 8500. just wanted to know i am dtermaned to build a fast all motor non vtec. any info or help will be appreciated
9.2...do i smell an LS motor? No vtec motor thats for sure. Or could it be a sohc.

reground cams suck. milling .040" is a bad idea, and will not yeild anywhere close to 11.1:1 compression ratio. You say the head can handle 8500 whata bout the bottom end?
first it s a 1998 ls. plus there is no all motor guys that could answer in the intgera forum. second why is milling the head a bad idea and reground cams. i heard bill gude does a nice job and makes some good numbers
reground cams means they use stock cams and grind them to change the lift characteristics - why bother when there are so many good cams on the market?
Milling .040" may introduce some valve clearance issues and will certainly make the head un-millable in the future and will retard your cam timing.
Go with high compression pistons. All the 'reground' **** i've seem from gude is exactly that.

well here are some drag strip #'s.... GUDE chip, throttle body, and im pretty sure i had the head package too. i ran 10.006 in the 1/8. 2.2 60" times. i hit 15.4 in the 1/4 but i could of improved, that was my first time. then i broke a cam and some cam caps and got the head replaced with a stock head. now i run 10.7 in the 1/8... so depending on driver, tires and such. you could be a whole second faster. BTW i ran both 1/4 and 1/8 with full interior and spare.

u talking about LS with no vtec too??? this is getting confuse..

send it to a good shop, i sent my ITR head to alaniz. and then invest in the best. look around. search. people will give you difference opinions, its the way you look at it. you wanna go fast and do good, then get what the quickest all motor nonvtec is running.. you just wanna be a normal joe with a "fast car" then spend 600 on cams and call it a day
thats the bst opion i have heard yet but it s hard to find a quick all motor non vtec. as soon as you punch in honda all motor all you see is vtec. this is another reason why i want to go non vtec. i have a fully buils ls vtec which is good. but i really want to go with a dead sleeper with that factoryall blck non vetc valve cover. that will surley get me some races. but if you have any info on some sites sites i can go to or some setups you know please tell me. i called bill gude and he said hie setup is good for 200 horse. which sounds good to me. Plus he uses reground cams which people say are bad but i think they all must be up to spec. no just taken of the machine and throwen into a box and shipped like crane. any info will be appreciated building an all motor non vtec ls is hard enough. building one with no info is even worse!!!!!!!
