Default Valentine 1 - V1 - Installed in the ITR and just in time for Expo

Ok... so I have talked with Josh (itrsport.com) a few times about his Valentine 1 and how he installed it. And on April 1st, I decided to order it. I had also acquired an extra clock for 94+ Integras.

So this is what happened last week.... I was expecting it to arrive Wednesday.

Time seemed to be standing still until I heard the doorbell.

Go outside and what do I see?

So the Brown Guy left me this, and then all of a sudden I hear another delivery truck... thinking that I was getting more stuff, I snapped this one...

But he just flew by, DAMN... I thougtht today was my lucky day.

Well, so I head inside to see what I got...

Everything is looking good...

So I guess it's time to head to the R, and see what kind of mess I can start:

Original:

Clock before transplantation:

Now I am starting to take the clock apart ** We no longer need a Clock**

And cutting the back cover of clock to accomodate the Remote Display Unit from V1.

Now it's time to dissect what Valentine 1 sent me:

Wanted to take the button off of the Remote display unit too... so it wouldn't be in the way while positioned behind the clock.

Used Goop to make a decent mount inside/behind the clock.

Put the clock together with Display mounted inside:

And after hardwiring the unit to the fuse block... this is what I get out of the project:

So I now have a Stealth V1 ! I am a happy we-todd, too.

Ryan

p.s. Sorry if some of the pics are dark... if I had photoshop or something, and knew how to use it, I would lighten these up. Feel free to do so, and let me re-upload if someone isn't busy.

Good work Ryan! Those are nice pictures to help people understand the install process. Looks like you had some fun.

Here's a link to my writeup

A few other pictures

The only time my V1 has failed was when I forgot the volume was turned down!

I thought the display you mount in the clock takes place of the big unit that you have on your sun visor. The thing in the clock hole is just a remote display of what is on the main unit then I guess?

haha, good work on the "reality TV" post

Very nice.... makes me want to order that little part from V1 and do the conversion with my V1.

Edit: How long did it take you?

hrmmm.... say how does that work? Does it only pick up radar? I've never had a radar detector before...and well after two tickets while doubling the posted limit I think it might be a wise decision.

One problem I found with the display being tucked away like that was the auto dimming feature on the display was way too dim for my own personal tastes.

I even Took off the clock window which helped a bit but not much.

Eventually I took it out and mounted it with the front face place sticking out of the clock and thats where its currently at.

This is the 1st location where I had the display mounted (on steering wheel column) I didnt like the location so I relocated it after a weeks driving.
currently still have the main unit above the rearview mirror. Power wires all concealed thru door pillars, no messy wires nor is it obstructing view, easy to access *****.

neither do I, but these V1's are TOP NOTCH from what I've been gathering, and every bit of defense you can get is good.

Does the Valentine V1 still recieve 360 protection even though it's pointed backwards?

It's not pointed backwards. But, even if it was pointed backwards the V1 would still recieve 360 degree protection - Hence 360 degrees (full circle protection). The front and rear arrows would be pointed in the opposite direction.

Damn guys.... sorry for leaving you in the blue... but the site became unavailable at the time I had first replied (Monday around 4pm).

So back to responding to everyone!

(itrsport.com) Thanks for the props! I am glad you had tried this before, and gave some insight to this project for me!

(Flux) Thanks!

(TypeR 01 886) Thanks! You can surely use my stuff on your website, but just make sure to give credit to everyone that needs it, like me and Josh (itrsport.com)

(Eluder200K) Thanks! I hope you understand now, how it works.

Tweakmeister Someday should turn into Someday Soon!

(SoCal ITR) Time? ... I spent most of Saturday messing with it. I would say, if you knew what all that's needed, it shouldn't take longer than 1 or 2 hours. A lot of the time was getting the wire up into the hole.

Very True about how they can't hurt!

SonicGSR I did notice some of that auto-dimming, but I thought it was just my eyes! LOL, oh well.

steve c I noticed the head clearance when I was showing one of my tall friends on Sunday. I guess, all that needs to be done, is have them recline a lil more. And, I guess I will see about the twisties... on the way to the Expo. I will get some time to mold up a fiberglass or ABS enclosure sometime here in the future to house the main unit.

BDiddy The last I checked my watch... which was today, it did read "8". But like I had mentioned earlier, I am a procrastinator, so that would explain for the late write-up. It's all good though.

Dr Pooface Exactly! But I used the "Automotive" Goop.

If anyone would want more info, I am usually glad to talk with anyone, so just hit me on AIM.

Ryan - who is still up at 5:20 am and needs sleep !

CA: Its legal to receive radar transmissions but to transmit and interrupt is illegal (passive and active jammers) -totally different from detectors
