i want to take my car to maaco for a paint job...should i shave the moldings off myself or let maaco do it...if i should do it myself, how should i go about it...i think the moldings are clipped on by a couple of clips, im just wondering about how to fill in the holes...anyway...thanks in advance

 

Weld some metal over the holes, grind the edges down and smooth with some bondo/fibreglass

 

what if i weld the metal in from the other side of the door (door panel side) and then fill the outside with a little bit of bondo then smooth it out...so the bondo is only in the hole? would that work?

 

I am actually in the process of doing my own body work right now, i am at the step of shaving the moldings off, and what i started to do yesterday was sand down front and inside of door, make sure down to bare metal, then got a piece of galvonized metal, put the metal in the back, held it in place, then spot welded it from the front, then grind down slightly, then use duraglass, and then normal filler, and walla!!!! hope this helps
