ratteling
I have a 90 hatch with a pretty good set up in it stereo wise.(4 12" alpine type r's, custom fiberglass box, mb quartz dorr speakers, with competition cross overs, MTX 81000D sub amp, cheap 4 channel, Alpine cda-7894 deck, and so on) I spent over $450 for dynamat. Everything in my car is dynamat(roof, doors, behind plastic, under carpet, hatch, etc) I still have rattles. Outside is just rediculas. It sounds terrible. does anybody know how to stop the rear hatch from rattling? When my music is on in the car, you can't hear it, but drivng around with no music, it rattles like a motha. Help me out guys. There has got to be a way.

First of all, I would go around the rear hatch with a socket wrench and tighten all the bolts holding everything together. There's no real way to elimante all the rattles and squeaks, it's just an older car and the rear hatches (even when new)are prone to squeaks. A lot of the rattling with subs and heavy bass come from loose liscence plate bolts also, so check those. Hope it can help, as I hate the squeaks when I crank the sound up also!

Turn down the bass. Then turn down the volume. Or better still wear open air head phones. Then you can go deaf without causing those around you to loose their hearing. Be considerate!
Mess with the little rubber stoppers on each side of the hatch. You can unscrew them. Do so, and it should give you a tighter seal. You may have to close your hatch a little firmer to get it to close, but it reduces some rattle noise.
