What is involved in installing a new intake manifold? Is it hard to do with the motor in the car? I am getting a skunk2 for a pretty good deal and was wondering if i could install it by myself

BTW: it''s goin on a 91' CRX HF with a B16a with place racing motor mounts

 

it can be done with the motor still in the car. its not really all that hard to do disconnect all the hoses and loosen the bolts but be prepared because coolant will spill out, also you will need a new intake manifold gasket because you want a nice tight seal when you put the new one back on or else it could run like crap

 

is there any tricks in doing it? why does coolant leak out?

 

Not really any tricks. You're just gonna need a long extension and a universal joint for the ratchet. Coolant spills out because you open up the cooling passages that flow through the IM. Drain the system first.

 

theres also a support bracket attatched to the back of the block that has 2 bolts under the manifold, just so you know.

 

you dont even really need a ratchet i had a hard time fittin one down there so i used a wrench. its really easy to do. like 7 bolts, 4 ontop 3 on the bottom. the two bolts under the manifold which hold it to the bracket, disconnect the throttle cable and all hoses, coolant will leak out but oh well just do it somewhere you dont care if it kills grass or wutever haha.
