Does your life insurance know you race?
If so, has it affected your rates? Have you told your insurance companies? Has anyone ever been refused coverage because of this?
Also, I'm in Canada and when I go to a race event in the US (a couple of times per year), I know that my travel health insurance does not cover auto racing. Does anyone know a company where I can get health insurance for trips to the USA for a few race weekends?

I recently ran into this problem.
I had gotten quotes from a couple of places and, as soon as they find out you race, the rates increase significantly (x5 in my case). I ended up getting coverage through Goldin Insurance ( www.goldininsurance.com ). They specialize in covering racers (the owner races in ITS) and the rates were reasonable albeit a bit higher then non-racing coverage.

I guess I lucked out (for now), all my insurance though my employer isn't subject to weenie things like high risk behavior.
I just upped the coverage, and all they wanted me to do is pee in a cub. I even asked about autoracing, and they said it wasn't a concern.
Now, I just need to stay with this employer (though the coverage is portable).

I made sure to do the life insurance thing before getting involved with driving schools and racing. I made it a point to ask if there were any exclusions - which there weren't. The key appears to be high-risk activities that you currently participate in, not that you plan to.
They seemed more concerned with nicotine than anything else.

Yes. My agent is my wife. We use Farmers Insurance.
When I filled out the form I had to check the box for motorsports / skydiving. (If not you are committing insurance fraud). They then sent me a form to fill out listing what sanctioning body and WHAT CLASS I would be competing in. I am in SCCA Showroom Stock C so I don't think it affected my rates too much.
