I think this is my next bike
suzuki SV1000
fuel injected v-twin
hope the insurance is reasonable - no plastic, no "R" in the name (thats a big deal to the insurance companies)
4.7gal fuel tank. it better get 180miles to a tank at least

no plastic, no raceboy image, all hooligan.
I'd planned on getting a f4i ...i was going to start hitting the tracks, but they're too far away. and i want to shed 30lbs before I start trying to learn how to hold a line on a course.
so this should be an interesting street ride. and instead of losing weight, i'll have more torque to haul my *** around.

I'll be interested to see how they insure it for you. I think it'll depend on who you go through, and if they've had claims on it yet. Origionally, Progressive insured my SV as a conventional, but after a year or so they started insuring it as a sports bike.
on my unloved zr-7s (old mans cheap-o wanna be sportbike but really a standard - also perfect 1st bike with sporty looks), Allstate did me for $1200 a year, then i hung up and they called back at $800. i suspect this is much lower than anyone else since i have good record and a long time customer underwritten by my parents.
if it goes up from there i am gonna have a problem. dont turn 25 for a few more months.

sv 1000 = tl 1000
Personally I would get the sv1000s, as I wanted a tls back in the day......
If it is anything like the sv 650 it will be a popular bike. The engine is basically the tl platform.

i was drooling over the s version for the longest time until i sat on it. suddenly i didnt like the fairing anymore. i dont know why. kinda felt like i was getting "in" the bike instead of on it.
on my zr-7s i get serious buffeting from the windshield which is similar to the S. I'd prefer a standard and have no protection for now. the air is much smoother when theres no shield. i used to stand up on my pegs to get up in the smooth air when the buffeting would give me a headache.
i'll add a smallish flyscreen above the headlight for chest protection when more accessories come out.

If I was gonna get a v-twin itd have to be the rc51. But its a lot more aggressive than the sv-1000. Oh yeah, most insurance companies just go by cc now they dont really care about the name. At least around here in san diego thats how it goes.
i think allstate starts with displacement and age and then tacks on $$$ if its a high claim bike (which their statistics probably show anything with an R in the name has a much higher claim rate). and then throw on more $$$ if its got a high claim cost (plastic fairings).
